10/4/2002: Record-setting bears

Happy Friday! This group of bears is the most ever in a single litter of bears: 5. I guess bear litters are generally small. When I think of a momma bear and her cubs, I picture TWO cubs for some reason.

And when I think of bears, I think of the music group "The Bears", which is basically Adrian Belew's buddies having fun playing pop music. I don't think of the slang "bears" referring to large hairy gay men.

Nevertheless! This is all happening at a zoo in Slovakia. The cubs have been named: Yogi, Cindy, Bubu, Chris and Balu. Why they should have Americanized names in Slovakia, I'm really not sure.

I guess this is a stupid comment to make, but.... ... They all look *really* fake.. ... like photoshopped or something?

is that just a function of the lighting, or the way bears look when they are young, or something?

The middle guy looks hungry. He's choosing which one is spitroast.

The cub on the left is hilarious.

Yeah.. I think they look fake, too. I'm sure they're real. It's just that I can't look at them and not think "dolls".
