Feb 12, 2010: Dulles Hangar Collapse

xoxoxoBruce • Feb 12, 2010 12:46 am
Most of you are probably sick of us in the lower half of the Boston-Washington Megalopolis, talking about our snow woes.
Especially since Washington (Which didn't get it at bad as Philly this winter :p:), is saturated with reporters with time on their hands.

But, here's one more from Dulles Airport.

Image

EHOWA NSFW, has some pictures of this hangar which collapsed from the snow load on the roof.
Note, the front wheels of those bazillion dollar jets, are supposed to be on the ground, not up in the air...
like when Fat Louie sat in the back end of your little red wagon. :headshake

Philly got slightly more, true. But Philly is in the North. Washington isn't used to this kind of snow. It is literally the worst winter in history for Washington. It's all about expectations.

I'm sorry for the destruction of property at the Hanger in Dulles. It's a waste. Some multi-millionaires have had their toys destroyed, and we'll all pay for it with higher insurance premiums to cover their losses.

Act of God.

Dealing with three blizzards, two of them 4 days apart, was not expected. I bought a snowblower 4 years ago, and hadn't used it till this winter.

Worst winter in Philly history, also, over 70 inches. If I get my hands on Punxsutawney Phil, he's stew.

We had warehouse roofs collapse in North Texas, from 12" of snow.

The most snowfall in one calendar-day period in our recorded history.

:rolleyes:If this global keeps on warming, Hawaii will have to import snowmobiles.
classicman • Feb 12, 2010 12:57 pm
Actually they predicted this type of weather to go along with the climate changing.
Happy Monkey • Feb 12, 2010 7:14 pm
A warm Pacific gives us snow.

If erection persists for more than four hours, see your aviation mechanic.

Actually, Hawaii is the only state without any snow, right now.

Meanwhile, at the winter olympics...

So Mauna Kea has no snow on it? It must be about 0 C there about now.

Ok, it is going to be expensive to fix those.

I don't want this to come off as trolling but AGW (Anthropomorphic Global Warming) has become politicized and the science is not "settled". The models and scientific theories proposed just have not held up.

Normally I would just not bring this up at all as a lot of this might be considered opinion but when all these opinions mean that people in Washington now want to tax me on it, then I just can't keep silent anymore. Believe what you will, donate to your charities, sponsor your wind turbines, but don't forcibly take my money to pay for your faulty science. I will give you this link and let you do your own research.

Unfortunately the debate on global warming/climate change, has distracted us from the most important target... Energy Independence.
Undertoad • Feb 15, 2010 11:43 am
They only talk about energy independence to distract us from the killer sharks!
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 15, 2010 12:03 pm
Nonsense, they're killer dolphins.

Sadly ironic to have a climate change denialist site set in Tuvalu's top level domain.

 thank you for pointing that out .
