Great response to Westboro protestors
The Westboro Baptist Church are the "God Hates Fags" bunch of nuts who protest with signs everywhere they can get attention. The finest answer to these loons happened the other day:
Westboro Baptist Church showed up to protest in front of Twitter’s San Francisco office on Thursday, but found themselves severely outnumbered by a crowd of absurdist pranksters, including guest blogger EDW Lynch above.
WBC’s hate-promoting signs were answered by multiple signs of randomness, nonsensical yelling, and even a unicorn. A portable stereo blared Lady GaGa, while press and people passing by ignored the WBC signs and took pictures and videos of the more entertaining signs.

Gotta love the signboard rickroll.
Reminds me of
my alma mater.
They should have gone with "UNIX is not Xenu".
I just had to link this. Pete - ya beat me to it.

"I HAVE A SIGN" is my favorite.
lol
'I was promised donuts'
I love it.
Reminds me of the mass individual protest in London a few years ago. In response to the changes in law making any protests within a certain distance of Parliament Square illegal without prior written permission from the Met police; Mark Thomas used to his radio show to organise a mass of small and individual protests: each of which applied in person to the met at the same time.
There were people protesting all kinds of things. One of which was a woman holding a big sign saying: "Will you please stop putting bits in cheese!"
Also, since in order to get permission one must apply in writing, people were turning up with their application written on everything from toilet roll, to an iced cake.
I'll remember this if we ever get picketed.
Then there's the people who counter-protest KKK rallies, dressing up as clowns and shouting things like "Wife Power!" and "White Flour!" I think there was a video posted around here at some point.
WBC thinks America is immoral, what could possibly be moral about protesting at a funeral. I've heard of anything more disrespectful. Not only do they target our soldiers, but they are also targeting the fallen miners in the Upper Big Branch mine disaster. God does love WV and the fallen soldiers and miners. God loves the sinners, even the homosexuals. God does not like the sins they commit. Love thy neighbor. Love the person not the sin. I don't know what Bible they are reading, but my Bible does not say God is hate. The only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy. Is that the next step for WBC?
Yeah, they're going to get their own level of Hell, nobody wants to be near them, even down there.
Welcome to the Cellar, taysue82.:D
LOL! The Rick Roll Phelps...LOL!!
A great solution

New law prohibits protests at funerals
In light of rumors circulating that out-of-state protesters might show up to picket Army Specialist Clayton McGarrah’s funeral on Wednesday, at its regular July meeting Monday night, the quorum court unanimously passed an emergency ordinance drafted by county judge Mike Moore that applies “current Arkansas state law to the offensive actions taken by those who would attempt to harass, torment, ridicule or otherwise annoy those who are grieving the loss of a loved one during any portion of a funeral visitation, procession, service or interment.”
New law prohibits protests at funerals
I've been suggesting this very thing for a few years now.
Good on them!:f207:
yeh really - Took 'em long enough.
Unfortunately, they've left out the codicil whereby we are allowed to beat the living shit out of these intellectual and emotional fucktards until they go to meet their Gawd, who will undoubtedly laugh hysterically, point His finger at them, and send them to whatever version of Hell they hold dear.
I figured that was a given...

Hear, hear...
"Fred's got issues..."

That was very good...

Of course, they're all lawyers.
Members of a small Missouri town banded together Saturday to block a controversial pastor and members of his Westboro Baptist Church from protesting the funeral of a fallen U.S. soldier, Fox4kc.com reports.
Hundreds of residents in Weston, Mo. -- as well as people as far away as California and Australia -- rallied in support of Sgt. First Class C.J. Sadell, who died from injuries suffered during a surprise attack in Afghanistan.
The residents sought to block Fred Phelps, leader of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., and his followers from picketing Sadell’s funeral, according to the station.
Phelps' church has been the subject of intense criticism for holding more than 44,000 pickets at funerals and other events – including the services of fallen service members.
Good for them!
It doesn't say how. Did they just stand in a crowd between Phelps and the funeral?
"We got everybody here early so we could take up all the parking spots," Rebecca Rooney of Weston, Mo., told Fox4kc.com. "We did that so Mr. Phelps wouldn't have a contingency that was really close."
"I'm glad they left, but I'm sad they came," she said.
Sorry -
Here's the link They said on TV, Phelps had a permit for a particular intersection, and they just filled up those 4 corners with flag wavers. Not just along the curb, they filled the whole damn corner lots. Evidently the permit allows Phelps to demonstrate but doesn't reserve the property exclusively.
Upping the ante. I agree with PZ Myers in all respects.
It's hard not to crack a cheerful smile at this story, but do try to take it seriously. A coven of Westboro Baptist anti-gay kooks went off to protest outside a soldier's funeral in Oklahoma, and returned to their car to find their tires slashed. When they drove into town on the flat tires anyway, to try and get them repaired, they were refused any help at all.
There's a grim part of me that feels a kind of satisfaction at that, I'll admit. But I think it was wrong.
I think I'd sell him his damned tires. I think I'd even help him put them on his car. Oh, but it would pain me.
do that... but fuck him
real good on the tire warranty!
That is so awesome on so many levels! I love that, HM - great find!
Speaking of Westboro...
McALESTER - Members of a Kansas church that protests at military funerals may have found themselves in the wrong town Saturday.
Shortly after finishing their protest at the funeral of Army Sgt. Jason James McCluskey of McAlester, a half-dozen protesters from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., headed to their minivan, only to discover that its front and rear passenger-side tires had been slashed.
To make matters worse, as their minivan slowly hobbled away on two flat tires, with a McAlester police car following behind, the protesters were unable to find anyone in town who would repair their vehicle, according to police.
I would not slash their tires.
I would not condone slashing their tires.
I would not help them get the tires fixed, either.
linkGod Phelps those who Phelp themselves. :D
Good Dwellarish reaction to the slashing.
I concur.
I would not slash their tires.

I would not help them get the tires fixed, either.

Is it ok if we just cut off their valve stems?
but what if they wanted to cut their throats?
but what if they wanted to cut their throats?
And so extremists have again successfully promoted more hate. Have made being a moderate again impossible. Hate is what Limbaugh types need every one to endorse. So again so many posters in this thread have only empowered Limbaugh and the extremists again.
Hate -- of homemade strawmen -- is certainly what you need to get your eyes open in the morning. You haven't sufficient virtue for the job -- your posts and ideas and ideation make that much clear.
No, vehicle damage is not permitted. However, towing out to Clifton Clowers' salvage up on Wolverton Mountain, with the razor wire and frothing dogs, is ok. ;)
