These erotic wooden furniture pieces are by sculptural furniture maker Peter Rolfe. You can’t really tell in the second sculpture, but the bust opens up as well. Hard to believe such hand carvings are even possible and are still around after all this time and wars.

Several years ago there was a Riemenschneider show at the Met. One of those "last time ever in your lifetime" shows. Seeing the carvings up close was amazing, they looked as soft and flowing as water. Some of them were completely shot through with worm holes, still amazing.
