Jan 22, 2010: Two Headed Hopper

xoxoxoBruce • Jan 21, 2010 11:50 pm
Juan Jaramillo of Medellín, Colombia, is a bird watcher and photographer of insects, especially butterflies.
My country is one of the most biodiverse in the world, we are number one or two in the number of species of birds, butterflies, orchids and anphibians, so I will try to share with You wath I can photograph.

Jaun post this picture of a two headed Grasshopper on TREKnature.

Image

His description
This insect belongs to the Orthoptera order, where the grasshoppers, crickets and katydids are.
I don't know the scientific name. The animal looks like it has two heads, and the red one is more attractive probably to distract a possible predator from the real one .
The picture was taken in a farm with an old coffee plantation, in Amaga, state of Antioquia, Colombia. The altitude is 1.400 m above sea level.

Granted Jaun's English is a little rough, but it's a hell of a lot better than my Spanish.
That hopper ain't scared, he tells his predators, Bite my ass.

The best I can come up with here is to dip it in chocolate - still it seems like a waste of good chocolate to me - meh.

So does this mean one of the heads has an asshole for a mouth?

If so, I'm going to name it "Cheney".:right:

I've heard of the beast with two backs, but this is getting to be ridiculous.

Maybe he keeps his dinosaur brain in there. Also a lucrative Adidas futbol contract could be his if he can grow another red stripe.

I've got a pic of a lizard with two tails that I took in my backyard. I'll see if I can find it and post it this weekend.

No, no. Wrap it in bacon, then dip it in chocolate.
