how long is your shower?

lumberjim • Jan 19, 2010 11:43 pm
yet another poll spawned in chat

multi choice, public poll
Tulip • Jan 19, 2010 11:50 pm
Okay, my question is does it constitue undressing and dressing or does the "shower time" mean the time in running water?
lumberjim • Jan 19, 2010 11:50 pm
wet time
Tulip • Jan 19, 2010 11:53 pm
Hmmm.....maybe I shouldn't answer. Don't want to sound dirty....:3_eyes: .... Hihi....I'll time myself tomorrow and will answer then! :D Btw, what does "I killed a hobo" really mean???? How does it answer the question?? A person who uses outdated slangs wants to know. :p
lumberjim • Jan 19, 2010 11:53 pm
too late....now i'm picturing you taking a shower
Tulip • Jan 19, 2010 11:55 pm
I hope it's sexy... ;)
zippyt • Jan 20, 2010 12:23 am
3'x4'
gvidas • Jan 20, 2010 1:25 am
Weird, zippy. Slight rectangle? I'd say mine is completely square, 3'x3'.
xoxoxoBruce • Jan 20, 2010 2:48 am
59 inches.
DanaC • Jan 20, 2010 5:26 am
I gace two answers. At home I bathe, not shower. When i am away in a hotel I usually shower.
glatt • Jan 20, 2010 8:32 am
I said 7-10 minutes, because it's usually just around 10 minutes. But sometimes, I'm just enjoying myself too much (no, that's not a euphemism) and I'm in there for 15+ minutes. That usually only happens on the weekends though.
jinx • Jan 20, 2010 10:42 am
I take baths at home. 7-10 minute showers at the gym, up to 20 if I have to wash my hair.
Trilby • Jan 20, 2010 11:02 am
I'm at the 7-10 min. range now that I've got hair to wash and condition. When I was baldy McBaldHead I could take a shower in three minutes.
DanaC • Jan 20, 2010 11:13 am
When i shower, I'm in the 4-7 minute range. When I bathe it's more like 20 mins.
Pie • Jan 20, 2010 11:53 am
In winter, I shower for ~15 minutes. I love hot water.
In summer, it's maybe 5 minutes.
SamIam • Jan 20, 2010 11:55 am
It depends. On cold mornings I stay in longer. If I shave my legs, that takes longer, too. If I'm really in a hurry, I'd say 5 - 10 minutes.
BrianR • Jan 20, 2010 12:44 pm
I answered with Jinx...7-10 unless I need to wash and condition my hair. Sometimes I shave too, but not my legs.
Shawnee123 • Jan 20, 2010 12:50 pm
Does jim know you and jinx are in the shower together cruising the Cellar?
monster • Jan 20, 2010 3:49 pm
4-10 minutes. But I just got in from buying fancy new showerheads, so who knows what might happen to my shower time now :D
Madman • Jan 20, 2010 4:06 pm
Don't move fast anymore. I have a radio in my shower so I tune into some soft rock or whatever tickles my fancy... so to speak. I take my time - no hurry. Sometimes I just stand there and let the hot water sooth me. I use the shower to relax in too.

Sometimes I even have company.
Juniper • Jan 20, 2010 6:18 pm
Depends on if there's shaving to do. :D

Your wife I hope.

j/k

I went with a man who did just that thing.
bluecuracao • Jan 20, 2010 7:51 pm
How the heck do you take take a one-minute shower? I sure wish I could do that--more time for sleep.
BrianR • Jan 21, 2010 2:22 am
it's called a Navy shower...
Undertoad • Jan 21, 2010 2:39 am
I've been working on getting my shower down to the most limited time. Without shortchanging any particular area.

It helps a lot to have an "illegal" shower head.
jujuwwhite • Jan 21, 2010 2:52 am
I wish I was in a hot shower right now...with massage jets!
Sundae • Jan 21, 2010 6:38 am
I hate my parents' shower.
I wish they didn't have one, so I'd have an excuse to take a bath.
It's a cliched European shower - no pressure at all, and every now and then it decides to change temperature - going from freezing to boiling (not literally) so you have to duck in and out of it mid-range.

Given a better shower I'd probably take longer.
In this one I only do the basics. Having short hair helps.

Of course. I sowed my oats 30 years ago. However, my libido is alive and... working. :)

I use our upstairs shower and it sucks. Grit has clogged the inlet ports on the supply side of the shower valve, and I've tried over the years to take the valve apart, clean it, and put it back. But it drips inside the wall when I put it all back together. Must be a nicked o-ring or something. I think I've written about it before. We've got a plastic bag taped underneath the valve in the wall cavity, directing the drips outside the access panel onto a rag lying on the floor, where they evaporate.

The valve has finally accumulated so much grit that it's making the water do weird harmonic crap that gets the pipes vibrating like a freaking helicopter is about to land on the roof. You can adjust the temperature and try to get the harmonic vibrations to change or temporarily go away, but they always come back. The only temperature settings that don't sound like a helicopter is landing on the roof are scalding hot and too cool.

I broke down this past weekend and ordered a whole new shower valve and assembly from an online plumbing supply place. Maybe this weekend coming up, I will install it. I really hate doing plumbing though.

Everyone else uses the downstairs shower, which is beautiful and just works. I re-did that like 2 years ago.

:lol2:

We're going to be doing a bathroom remod, including removing the current 'garden tub' that we never use and replacing it with a nice large shower for two. Two shower heads, independent controls, etc. Apparently they're all the rage these days.

But I'll have to explain it to my mom. :shudder:
wolf • Jan 21, 2010 10:53 am
Alone, 7-10 minutes. Some mornings, maybe less than 7, I never set a timer.
kerosene • Jan 22, 2010 11:25 am
I have to wash and condition my hair every day. My husband takes longer ones than me, so if I am lucky I get 10-15 before the hot water runs out.
Pie • Jan 22, 2010 1:24 pm
The water heater in our house is great and never seems to run out. 'Cept when my SIL is visiting; she takes 40-minute showers!
lumberjim • Jan 22, 2010 1:32 pm
wow...she must be rubbing TWO out in there

Yay! I just fixed the shower. No more plastic bag hanging out of the wall. It just works! Now I need to make an access panel door to cover the hole.
xoxoxoBruce • Jan 24, 2010 8:31 pm
Just like one of them perfeshnals. :thumb2:

yeah. :) I haven't done a lot of sweating copper, but enough to make joints that don't leak. Even if they do look sloppy with lots of drips.

I put shut off valves in so that next time I can swap out the cartridge much more easily.
lumberjim • Jan 24, 2010 9:45 pm
good job....my brother is a plumber.....and he's big on shut off valves too.

It's nice he/she is interested enough to dig through the rubble and find the relics of when we was great, before the facefuck defecters took flight.;)
Flint • Mar 23, 2017 1:07 pm
I've saved time on shaving in the shower, but it's been replaced by luxuriously stroking conditioner through my beard.

It's really funny because I've reread some of my posts and have zero recollection of ever having written them. It's sometimes bittersweet when posts by people like Brianna show up.
