Moderator voting thread

Phew, I forgot all about this for a few days there. Bad admin!

Please vote for no more than two people, to be Cellar moderators through the end of the year. The top two will be selected. The term of this office will be through 12/31/2010.

Candidates are listed in order of nomination.

The job is:

Moderators are added to the list of email addresses that get notified when someone reports a post. One would remove spam and forum abuse and things like this.

Moderators can do the following:
- Edit, move, delete posts
- Edit, move, copy, open/close threads
- Post announcements (make posts "sticky" at the top of the forum)
- View IP addresses
- Ban users

This is not a popularity contest but a way to figure out who should have additional power for the benefit of the community. Full disclosure: although I have the ability to see who voted for whom, I won't peek, I sincerely promise.

The vote will be open for five days, ending at approx. 2:40 pm EST Jan. 14. (Or whenever I notice time is up.) Thanks all for participating.

Yep. It is important to continue the formality of moderator elections but they've been model citizens allowing themselves to be drafted into service.

Absolutely no disrespect intended to the others, but things have been great and as I said before there is no apparent need to fix what isn't broken.

It feels just like home.

No offense to the other candidates, who I am sure would be trustworthy and capable. However Bruce and Wolf are veterans at this, and I am very happy to vote them both in again.

Many thanks to you both, and to UT. I think it was Dar said recently that the sign of a good mod is that you don't know they're there. I know the three of you work on our behalf, but never in an obstructive way, and always for the benefit of the Cellar.

Congrats new mods. Does that mean you're actively looking for trolls who happen to infiltrate the forum now? I haven't seen one yet. What do the look like? Do thay have claws? :)
