Aerial Photos

I thought this was kind of cool this aerial photo shows my farm in the spring/summer. The red X is where I live way back in, you can't see the house for the trees. That represents about 40 acres. The brown around is where the crops grow that is about 160 acres. In the upper right corner of the un-tilled ground is the barn. The dark spot in the middle in the clearing is a huge pond. If you put your address in google view and then take a screen shot you can crop out a picture of where you live.

That's cool! Microsoft also has a pretty good aerial image service. You zoom all the way in, and then under the aerial drop down menu, you choose "bird's eye." They have detailed images covering most urban areas and even some rural ones.

Did you ever see this thread? Lots of shots here, including one of my house.

Oh yah but last year I was not in the street view and I suck at searching the cellar. =)

Did you try the Microsoft link in my post? There may be a MUCH higher resolution image of your place. It's different than the Google shots and street view shots. Worth checking out.

Why did you blur everything else, Nirvana? Is that the pot crop?
zippyt • Jan 9, 2010 1:25 pm
Glatt , Those of us the live 20 miles behind BFE Generally Cant get hi res Pics from Sat pics
zippyt • Jan 9, 2010 1:29 pm

Hmm I am trying to look on your link now Glatt. I did not blur it and I could not get it to be more detailed. It looks like that was taken when soybeans or corn was freshly planted.

It's not always the case though. My MIL lives 20 miles from BFE, (actually,10 miles outside of Wilson, NC in a tobacco field) and she's in the high res pics. No major cities around her.

You are right Zippy its no better on Bing. Sorry I live on a blurry farm ;) Oh dear Glatt when a house is right next to another house that is not BFE :headshake
Nirvana • Jan 9, 2010 1:37 pm
Those lines /roads in my photo that is my driveway. One to the barn and the other to the house. They are dirt that eats gravel ...
Nirvana • Jan 9, 2010 1:47 pm
I made it bigger and then cropped out the pasture and woods. Thats as detailed as I can get.

OMG you don't even know how close you are! Think about right now there is at least 2 1/2 feet of snow. No explosives though unless you count methane [cow poop]

See this utility pole? It's mine. I bought and paid for it about 20 or so years ago. (Seems someone missed their driveway. No idea who it coulda been.)
