Sick of Having a Body

Trilby • Jan 1, 2010 6:42 am
I'm sick of having a body. There's always something wrong with it or it has to be tended to in some way. It's too hot or cold or tired but it won't sleep properly; it's thirsty or hungry or needs to discharge something; it's got something in its eye or a plugged up sinus cavity or its ears are waxy. It needs to be cleaned and moisturized and sloughed and plucked and sanded and painted or brushed. I have to take it to the doctor because it's infected or growing things it shouldn't or not working properly. I have to buy clothes for it because it is inadequate on its own. It's too tall or short or thin or fat, it's too bulky or delicate. It is prone to accidents. The times it has afforded me happiness are few and too far between, however I am usually in daily bodily pain of some kind or other. The body's capacity for joy seems so minute compared to it's capacity for suffering. After a certain age no matter what you do it will look funny and betray you.

I hate living in the physical. I can't wait to go back to spirit.

Non-corporeal existence is going to ruin your post count.

We need our bodies, because they carry around our heads.
SamIam • Jan 1, 2010 11:01 am
I don't like my head much, either. It keeps me awake at night; its always worrying; it can never remember anything; its always off in the past or prancing around in the future with bad results; I can never please it - its either lonely or overwhelmed by too many people. I'll stop now, but I could fill an entire page on what my head does to me. :greenface

I know, right? I'd love to download my brain into a clean, silicon matrix. A la the Heechee.

My body and head are pains in my ass, but they serve my purpose. It's all about me, to them. I wouldn't have them any other way.

My body and I are friends, most of the time. I imagine the afterlife to be similar to the before life... which was pretty much nothing... like being put under, it's just nothing. So yeah, the bod and I are friends.

I'm kind of attached to myself.

You and your sneaky sense of humor. I laughed so loud my cats were like "uh, what?"

You are young and (I assume) not suffering from satan's own sinus infection.

It was a joke. yuk yuk

I only need my body to get around :)

I too have my creaks and groans. I feel glad I am not a ship or a plane because I'd not be very sea or air safe. Fortunately or unfortunately our bodies allow us to hobble along to the finish line.

I hope your sinus infection goes away soon!

Drink lots of water.
Eat bananas. I guess potassium helps?
Breath Eucalyptus. I don't know if it helps the nose but it smells good.

I drink specialty herb teas. I don't know if they help but they are somewhat nourishing to the spirit.

Have you tried throwing a towel over your head and a bowl of boiling hot water. All the steams goes right into your sinuses. Also taking a shower as hot as you can stand it sometimes helps. High doses of morphine are also useful.

Sorry your sick. I have been where you're at far too often. :(

Yah I know what you mean Bri...Some moments I am almost convinced my body is a terrible prison, and I am the restless inmate. I wanna be free, I just don't want to have to die to do it. I'm sort of non-commital.

Fuck that..... in addition to flying cars, 1950s science fiction movies also (falsely) promised we'd be able to put our disembodied brains in beakers on carts.

Have you tried the thing where you pour water up your nose with the thing that looks like Aladdin's lantern (but cheap plastic)? I know a guy who swears by it.

Yeah, the neti pot. It does really help but the congestion comes back (it's more a constant cough now).

I wonder how much snot a human body can manufacture??

I'm not really sick of having a body. I just want the one I used to have 20 years ago.
bluecuracao • Jan 2, 2010 7:56 pm
I'd kind of like to go back to the one I had even ten years ago. But that would mean giving up meat, cheese and butter. :headshake

I think I could deal with being downloaded to a silicon matrix as long as it had a penis.

Read Eon by Greg Bear, if you haven't already.

Oh by the way, I wasn't necessarily talking about *my* body that I used to have 20 years ago. ;-)
