I think #2 has interesting shades and textures. In #1 the haze in the background has almost the same light blue shade as the patina on the metal. The light blue is set before and behind the lush green vegetation - the foreground crisp and solid and the background soft and ethereal. That's not random ugliness, that's art.

I have trouble saying any of those are really ugly.
1 is a bit "intrusion into nature", which I dislike, but I've seen much worse.
2 could be ugly from a bit further away, but this close it becomes abstract art.
3 is garish but for a reason. Form follows function, I don't mind that.

Ok, 1.

I agree with Rich and Zen.

I'm liking Ugly #2.

It's genuinely ugly. Nothing redeeming about it. It's ugly.

There is an interesting symmetry in the power line and insulators that appeals to me, where the decay of #2 is just plain ugly. Some stuff decays in an interesting and graceful way, neither of which are expressed in that picture.

#3 is actually kind of interesting to me. I like the sinuous lines leading up to the traffic cones and those things that get filled with water to reduce the seriousness of crashes into them. For me, roadway ugly usually involves skidmarks and mangled metal.

I think electrical/telephone/cable lines are the ugliest thing. Even in my town (7000 ppl) wires almost blot out the sky in some spots. Ugly.
