the song is 'vicarious' by Tool. but it's a cover version by some kids....that way I'm not apt to be muted by youtube.
jinx • Nov 24, 2009 4:58 pm
Moist weather today. We went to Roanoke island to see the lost colony site, the aquarium we didn't know was there until we drove past it, and climbed around on Jockey's Ridge.

I'll post since others are occupied with other entertainments.

That is one huge beach. I see a lot of footprints. I see no 4 wheel tracts. Seems like it would be a great place for that.

Great monument share. It was hard to read but I see it had a lot of information on it. First American born there aye? wow

I don't know, with you and your beard sitting on the rocking chair on the porch, wouldn't 'Dueling Banjos' have been more appropriate?
lumberjim • Nov 24, 2009 9:55 pm
are you calling me a butt-f**king redneck, rich?
zippyt • Nov 24, 2009 10:08 pm

Fantastic Jim and Jinxer!! I have decided to live vicariously through you guys, on your vacations, but mostly in Mexico! :)

Jim...so uh...What's up with the beard? What's next? Chess tournaments? :)
lumberjim • Nov 25, 2009 8:43 am
next is I get down to 250 before I shave it off.
skysidhe • Nov 25, 2009 9:05 am
beards are not for rednecks anymore

wasn't it all the rage a while back

You are in good company with the jet set lol

pathetic display of appeasement I know
classicman • Nov 25, 2009 9:14 am
Wonderful, just wonderful. The "family time" & special memories you two are creating for your kids just overwhelms me with wonderment. (did I really type wonderment?)
I think you guys are awesome. . . and you have great kids too.
skysidhe • Nov 25, 2009 9:23 am
I've always thought so too classic. My respect for their example is a kind of that way too. Head and shoulders above the rest sort of.
lumberjim • Nov 25, 2009 11:09 am
oh please.....we're just as dysfunctional as everyone else. we only share the good stuff though. we're just not all that into airing dirty laundry, s'all.
dar512 • Nov 25, 2009 11:28 am
You have very cool vacations, though. It's all documented here.
classicman • Nov 25, 2009 12:21 pm
I know there is "shit" Jim, thats normal in everyone's lives. You guys do some things, and perhaps you don't realize it, but they far exceed the norm and you both should be commended for it.

Don't like it?
Then EAD ya furry faced fook.

Good, otherwise we might think you guys are crazy....:D lol! I'm jealous, I won't see a beach until Christmas...I'm really jealous of the camera the most however.....Even if I do go I won't be able to capture it like that. waaa.

Ok move along...

Seconded.
Whatever shit you go through, you're still together, still bringing up your children and still finding enough time to post here.

Personally, not too sure on the face fungus, LJ. For some reason it put me in mind of Spencer Platt (if you're lucky enough that he is outside your consciousness, he's a complete tool from a reailty show called The Hills)

But I'm coming round to the idea Jinx has decided to keep you, so I guess it's not my choice to make.

FTR Bruce - I'm not anti-beards, just not on some men.

And in all seriousness - wow. What a lovely break.
I holidayed with the 'rents until I was 15, then I discovered festivals and never went back. Mum promises when Aunty Alice's money comes through we're all having a family holiday - us, my sis et al and my bro and wife. In Benidorm. Nothing like OBX. Trashy, touristy, downmarket, Brit-centric. We'll love it.

Don't tell you're kids they'll look back on this as the best days of their lives. But you know they will.
jinx • Nov 25, 2009 5:10 pm
The cellar is fantastic for documenting stuff, and sharing it as well. :)

We went for bbq at High Cotton last night (omg its soo good) and got the scoop on the Manteo waterfront / Festival Park so we went back to Roanoke Island today to check it out. Lots of fancy shops, lots of fancy boats, as well as a replica of the boat that brought the lost colonists over, and a replica encampment of the expedition that came before them. Actors in period costume throughout, although there were no natives like we had been told. There was a cool little museum there too.
Then we headed back 'home', stopping in at the Wright Bros memorial about 2 miles south of us in Kill Devil Hill.

Glad the weather is holding out for ya'll.. it's been mighty rainy here in the Triangle for the past two weeks...should clear over the weekend, and then ramp back up for next week. Wave if you drive past on your way home!
DanaC • Nov 25, 2009 7:30 pm
I like the beard.

Damn good holidays you guys take. I am positively green :)

1st 2 days were gorgeous......last two drizzle and 50. not so bad though.... supposed to improve tomorrow. we're gonna hit the beach and do some extreme beachcombing. to the max!
Dagney • Nov 25, 2009 8:16 pm
Hey, a bad day on the beach is better than a good day at the office! (And considering I'm counting down the days until our next vacation (9.more.days!)) I know how ya feel!

Hope you and yours have a great Holiday - ya'll cooking at your place, or finding some good southern turkey and trimmings locally?
Griff • Nov 25, 2009 8:21 pm
The beard rocks.
lumberjim • Nov 25, 2009 8:22 pm
we already celebrated thanksgiving on Monday. We're in a different Time Zone.
lumberjim • Nov 25, 2009 8:30 pm
there was a group of three people....a couple and the brother in law....that were at the Wright Bros Monument at the same time we were....and they were laughing really hard and taking pictures of each other under the word GENIUS. so while I was waiting to copy their idea, i took this one of 'ippy, the unconquerable'.
monster • Nov 25, 2009 10:23 pm
I like the beard too. And the voice in the Shark vid

 You can keep the weather, though :p
jinx • Nov 26, 2009 7:57 pm
Weather was lovely today. After the beach we went for all you can eat seafood. They lost - I can eat a metric fuck-ton of seafood...
