Emma, internet research isn't stalking. If you post stuff about yourself all over the place, people can and will find it and put it together. If that bothers you, don't post so much.

You might do some research of your own. Classicman is a centre-right republican-ish person in most things, so his political views are pretty similar to yours.

I don't think he hates you. If he does, it is probably for something to do with your personality and/or behaviour, rather than your political views.

ETA: The libertarianism question was a reference to an argument between two of our more ... how shall I say ... strong-willed dwellars that took place on November 5th, 2008. Urbane Guerrila (strong right republican + self-described libertarian) and Radar (off-the-scale libertarian) were arguing about who was the most libertarian candidate. The debate was ended by a comment that you see preserved in my signature line.

Then you should use a few more of those IQ points when thinking ;)

If you take the time to look around, you will discover that the cellar has a place for all sorts of nutters, hooligans and arseholes and there will be a place for you too. But if you storm in like a bull in a china shop, being rude to those who do welcome you and try to help you find your spot, then you will remain friendless and you will get hurt and leave. It's hard to get banned from the cellar, but it's easy to be ignored, even if you're a bigger attention ho than drax. Actually we should hook you two up, you'd be perfect together.....

...anyway, no one is going to diss you for your age, looks or opinions ....just for how you present them. Shove them in our faces and you will get them shoved right back. This is not a tiny-teen forum. Teens are welcome, but you'll get no respect if you behave like Britney on acid.

Yes, you are getting the attention you crave now. This is the settling in and adjustment period. If you are indeed intelligent, opinionated and outgoing as you claim, you will fit in very well. If you are in fact forum trash as you appear, no-one will notice when you stop posting. that is all, now go squeeze those pimples.

Yeah, I checked out some of the links Classic put up. She's got great potential in the eye candy department. So far, pretty pedestrian teenage kid posts, though. Nothing that makes my twit-o-meter do anything except flash out "Twit! Twit! Twit!", anyway.

Emma, we've had other posters here who were as young as you. I think perhaps one has survived to become Cellar family. May the force be with you. I recommend sticking to the "don't be intolerably irritating" new member admonition.

Ibby, any advice for the wee lassie?

Apparently more than one other forum has come to the conclusion that she's actually a fictional teen trolling to catch pervs online. I was skeptical, but I have to say... I'm slowly leaning towards too much eye candy, posted too willingly, with too little evidence of who the hell is taking all these pictures of her and her stepsister. Her myspace page says

Who I'd like to meet:
Girls of all ages but boys between 14 and 18 yrs. old only! I may make an exeption to this rule but you would have to email me and let me get to know you first and then I'd make up my mind if I want you as a friend or not! My email address is beccaandemma@gmail.com I have zero tolerance for disgusting and vulgar people and you don't get a second chance! If you say anything disgusting and vulgar on my page or in a message to me I will block you and report you!

She'd consider an older man, you see, but only if he sweet-talked her. :headshake What would be awesome is if the other forums' suspicions were right, and "Emma" registered under another username to tell us all about her job as a statutory-perv-catcher. But I bet it won't happen.
Elspode • Nov 23, 2009 11:23 pm

Missing daddy's love because he is too busy catching crooks, needs to troll for attention of any kind from grown ups. Am I in trouble yet? how about now? Was that enough? Hey LOOK AT ME!!! Am I sexy enough to be jail-bait yet?

If you aren't a troll, or some manifestation of an earlier, batshit crazy dwellar, then really all you need to do to fit in is stick around and not be too *thinks* in our faces from the start.

Join in with existing threads, rather than starting a bunch yourself. You've already toned down your presentation some (pictures and giant coloured fonts), so that's cool. Strongly held political views are a plus, but wide assertions about the capacities and proclivities of the other side can be dangerous, and are more or less guaranteed to alienate you from a wide section of the community: if you don't let the community get to know you a little first.

Right now, I'm inclined not to think you are a troll. I think you probably are the age you say you are, and that you are putting everything out there. Which is fine, but when getting to know a group of people, there's a balance to be struck between letting them understand you and seeking to understand them.

I hope I'm right and I hope you do stick around.

Bad idea to try the spelling/grammar nazi approach if your own spelling /grammar is questionable. This is particularly the case where the nazi manages to mangle their own grammar and/or spelling in the same post that takes issue with another poster's spelling/grammar.
