You have one week to take and post one picture in each of the following concepts/categories. No archived pictures allowed.

Then we'll take three days to vote on the best in each category. One point scored for each favorite pic.

The person with the most points this week sets the next treasure hunt. In the event of a tie, the oldest poster gets the honor.

The person with the most points when we all tire of it is the bestest ever and gets kudos and stuff.

1) Old and New
2) Weather
3) Eye
4) Ugly
5) Streaming

everyone can vote. Posting ends and voting begins 11pm weds 25th Nov.

I'm interested. It's a real challenge. Old pictures would be easy, but finding the time and subjects to shoot new ones this week will be the challenge.

re "streaming" -exactly, you interpret. I wanted something with a broad range. And it's not necessary to enter on all categories.

Maybe we should make it two weeks instead of one so people can take advantage of the break?

An Old and New Weather Eye Ugly and Streaming...

OK, here's my first entry: Weather.

It's called "Dustbins In The Fog"


...you wait, now I've decided that's as interesting as the weather is likely to get, it'll probably rain frogs on Thanksgiving or Black Friday will truly be black or something..... ;lol:

Nice! Now I know what I have to beat.

I've taken Old and New, and it's pretty good. I tried a couple different things for Streaming, but am not happy with them. Haven't tried the others yet. I'll post when I have more. I'm carrying my camera around with me.

I've taken loads more, but I think mostly too awful to post. I tried streaming too, and every single member of the family (cats excluded, Angel fish included) has had their right eye immortalized this morning. But that depressed me. the kids eyes are so huge and cute and beest and I look like the walking piggy-eyed dead....

Ok. Lunch time. I'm heading out to see if I can find anything ugly in downtown DC to take a picture of. Weather is looking iffy too. Better take my umbrella. Hmm...

OMG eyeballs are so creepy.

I think it's kinda cool how the iris is all wispy. Like a glass paperweight with colored glass streaking through it.

I do too. far more interesting than any of our eyes. Although we always have Hebe's complete heterochromia to fall back on. Your color combination is called central heterochromia, in case you didn't know.

Just as a point of information in case you didn't know, what you see coming out of that tailpipe is just water vapor. You can't see the stuff that kills you/us/mother nature.

So after posting those boring rain pictures, there's now an eerie fog this morning that doesn't look like it's going to burn off.

and we had major rain yesterday after I went for the exotic dustbins/trashcans :lol: i guess I should post some other entries quick...

My 'old & new'. That old Bowers trench lighter works just as good now as it did waaaay back in World War II. It's a genuine veteran, too, grandpappydigr carried it Over There.

Great old lighter and nice photo gravdigr. I think you're shot is so clear it's almost 3D like.

So I have 2 new photos. I know they are not clear.It is sharpened to the max but it didn't help much.
My cell phone isn't that great anyway but for inside photos it's almost frustrating if I didn't think it was so much fun.

Yea, I got on a long work string and then the holidays combined with a car wreck took up most of my time. I will try to get in on the next round.

Yeah, Tulip, I do collect Zippos! I got started collecting those super-cheap, plastic novelty lighters. As far as 'polishing up' the old trench lighter, not a chance. I like the old-and-used-but-still-going-strong look. I look at it like antique furniture, most of the time, refinishing/shining-up is the worst thing you could do.

Yes, you are right about the lighter. Its "old-and-used-but-still-going-strong" beauty caught my eye. :) Anyways, I would LOVE to see your Zippos colllection. :D I have a small one myself, hihi. If you show me yours, I'll show you mine. ;) :D
