Iraqi Election Announced for January

I saw on the news last night, the Iraqi parliament have found a compromise about Kirkuk and have scheduled their election for next January.

Well, I hope to goodness it goes better than the one in Afghanistan!

This one *might* work and produce a government that will be stable enough to allow the foriegn forces to withdraw with dignity; but we can expect every trouble-maker for 2,000km to be looking for some way to stir the pot.

It'll be interesting (that's a word for someone who's safely away from there), to see if the bad guys try to disrupt the election, or try to join in to gain political clout? Hopefully the latter, but more likely both.
