I'm exhausted. I spent all last night getting up at least once an hour and heaving the contents of my guts up. When that was all gone I was onto the dry heaves. And then the other end started (if'n you know what I mean) and I'm thankful that the bathroom is small enough for me to sit on the pan with my head over the basin. Even so I kept turning round, anxiously, depending on which end was sounding the alarm.
Yeuch.
Just wanted to share :D.

That blows!

Other than exhaustion, are you feeling better now?
Juniper • Oct 15, 2009 1:31 pm
Oh good Lord, we get that every now and then here. Been spared for a couple years, though. Which means this year we'll probably get it, and it will be especially poignant because our master bathroom is currently gutted, we only have the bathroom in the hall and a toilet in the nasty, dark and dingy laundry room. Ugh.

Take care of yourself. The only good thing about it is that it doesn't tend to last long.

It's going around everywhere!

I'm not feeling so hot myself. I know a lot of people who have been sick.

Rest. Rehydrate. Get better, limey!

I'm feeling quite a bit better now - have had a piece of dry bread and lots of slightly warm boiled water. Yum YUM!

My quavers have always been cute. Thank you for noticing, you flirt. ;)

I can never find my link to the long list of weird html characters. So I end up having to google for it. ("musical note html")

But here's a page if you're better at filing than I am.

http://www.htmlforums.com/html-xhtml/t-html-symbol-code-for-music-notes-85339.html

So does anyone know how English (European?) names for the length of musical notes get to be different from the US version? I had never heard of a quavers and crotchets until a couple of years ago.
limey • Oct 15, 2009 4:14 pm
Oh thank you! You never know when you're going to need a cute quaver or two!
German note names are similar to the American system. Perhaps it is just us Brits that are wierdos :headshake?
wolf • Oct 15, 2009 4:15 pm
We use the odd names here, too (quavers, semi-quavers and all that), but you don't usually learn them unless you're taking advanced music theory classes.
limey • Oct 15, 2009 4:16 pm
So dar wasn't in the advanced music class?!
dar512 • Oct 15, 2009 4:23 pm
No. I have no university training in music. It's all been private lessons.

That's interesting Wolf. Maybe it's only the orchestra types that use those terms. But I've been around music almost all my life and only heard it when I started working with Brits.

Which sounds better ... a 64th note, or a hemidemisemiquaver?

hemidemisemiquaver definitely sounds more high-class. But I could see it taking a day or two to discuss a couple of bars of music. :rollanim:

Sorry to hear you had the bug, Limes.
I fully sympathisde because of my Six Days of Vomiting, which I will refer to for years to come (because mine was caused by the tablets whichwere supposed to be making me better).

I found Muller Rice was a good food when I started to feel a little more human. Soft and sweet going down and coming up again.

Thanks for bringing this back on track, SG! I'm not quite over it yet, but the traffic is now all one way (albeit a little faster than I'd like) :D.
