Sept 9, 2009: Heaven Of Delight

Heaven Of Delight, believe it or not, is the name of this ceiling.
The ceiling is in the Royal Palace, in Brussels.

Image

Pretty spiffy room, and that ceiling ain't no home depot wallpaper, it was done with...

Image

Yes, it took the artist Jan Fabre, and a team of around 30 people, 4 months to glue
1.6 million beetle shells to the ceiling.

A dropped ceiling would have been a whole lot cheaper. ;)

Jan Fabre, a man renowned for working with strange media including blood, sperm and all manner of insects

If you follow the Jackson Pollock school of abstract expressionism? It's sort of like that, a spatter and drip method.
