Its just part of the huge misconception about australia. 99.9% of the population here are the same city living, fast food eating, starbucks (Sadly its come here and no amount of firebombing is going to discourage it) slobs that live in most US cities. Akubras, machettes, crocs, deadly spiders, kangeroos and the 'bush' are things that would probably see as much of as we do, on TV.
