glatt • Jun 20, 2009 10:09 pm

I just added that to my favorites. It will give me something else to do while I put off working tonight. :)

*heh heh heh* Can't believe that the Dwellarz are just now getting around to woot.com knowledge. Very surprised about that.

They rock. I've gotten much from them. But you can expect slow shipping for the $5.
ferret88 • Jun 23, 2009 8:49 pm
Oh, and they're having a woot-off today where they woot a bunch of different things back-to-back to clear out the warehouse. Much of it is randoms craps.

Try doing a search for "woot" here on the Cellar before you assume this thread is the first mention of it. Lumberjim said specifically that this thread is just a way to alert each other to good deals in case anyone forgets to check woot any particular day.
ferret88 • Jun 24, 2009 10:15 pm
Ah, my bad. I apologise.

Lumberjim - digital trailblazer.

I keep my alarm/radio set to WGN, at talk station here in Chicago. I woke up this morning to the talking head gushing about woot.com. Later they interviewed the woot guy.

What's up with the tags on this thread? Linkys?

How nice that I saw them. You're welcome.
Alluvial • Jul 22, 2009 12:17 pm
wootoff today. I got a new Motorola W215 phone for $29.99. They had Acer Atoms for $130 earlier today. I was tempted but didn't bite.
glatt • Jul 22, 2009 12:23 pm
I was eying that phone, but decided against it. Excellent deal though.

I've seen those infomercials for the "Little Giant" ladder. I've even heard some people who own them say they are pretty good. They have the smallest one on woot today for 135 bucks. I wouldn't mind having one, but can't go spending $135 on an impulse purchase. I got a huge extension ladder and a smalll step ladder. This would be a nice middle ground one.
zippyt • Aug 28, 2009 10:51 am
they are dangerous !!
All the neat angles they fold to is cool , but it Will colapse !!!!
classicman • Aug 28, 2009 11:04 am
and chop off extremities that get caught in there - or so I heard.
Check out some reviews:

Ripoff Report
glatt • Aug 28, 2009 11:34 am
I've never used one, but I followed a discussion on another forum centered around construction, and the consensus there was that the Little Giant knockoffs are the ones that collapse because they have crappy hinges. And that Little Giants do what they claim to do. But I have zero first hand experience with them.

I've got no plans to buy one. But I could use a small sized extension ladder. Something that's lighter and smaller than the huge heavy weight fiberglass one I have. My current one is great for reaching gable ends and other really high places, but I bought the heaviest fiberglass one they offered and it's a bitch to move around. Sturdy though.
Alluvial • Aug 29, 2009 12:04 pm
There was a Zune on woot this week. I was tempted (again!). But I didn't bite.
dar512 • Sep 8, 2009 12:46 pm
Shoot. I missed today's woot. It's the first one I would have seriously considered. Two PowerSquids for $9.99.
Flint • Sep 8, 2009 1:15 pm
Oh hell, Pooka is obsessed with those Power Squids.
dar512 • Oct 8, 2009 11:13 pm

They're wooting off today a new deal every hour or so.
glatt • Mar 19, 2010 10:17 am
They've got a Kodak Theater HD Player for $50 plus $5 shipping today.

I'm tempted, but not sure if I'd use it much. This black box hooks up to your HDTV and stereo system and also connects by cable or wifi to the internet and your network/PC so you can get internet radio stations on your stereo system. You can view media content located on your PC on your tv. You can watch YouTube videos on your tv with better quality than most other black boxes will let you. You can play your iTunes library through your stereo.

If you have an external drive filled with content, you can just plug that USB cable directly into this box and access all the media directly to put it in your tv and/or stereo. No need to turn on a PC.

It doesn't play Netflix on demand.

It will accept memory cards full of pictures, so you can have a slide show on the big screen, and transfer them to your PC for storage.

It gets really good reviews on ease of use and the remote is very highly rated.

So I'm not sure how much I'd use all this stuff, but it does it all well, according to the reviews, and is a fantastic price.

Hmm.

WTF? Two knives for $149? I guess if you're a professional. But I can't imagine any home use that warrants knives that expensive.

We've got serrated knives we bought at a state fair for $20 20 years ago. They still work great.

It's pretty cool USB HDTV adapter RFN, good price, if only I needed such a thing.
glatt • May 28, 2010 4:24 pm
I've been thinking about buying that gadget. It's cheap. But there are a lot of people complaining about getting it to work. I miss my VCR, and I'm too cheap for TIVO. This could be just the thing.
Gravdigr • Jun 24, 2010 4:05 pm
$400.00 :lol2:
morethanpretty • Jul 1, 2010 9:49 am
Amazon has bought Woot.

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing yet. Today's deal is a new Kindle for $149...

Edit: Its sold out.
classicman • Jul 1, 2010 11:12 am
another dweller apparently got one ... here
sad_winslow • Jul 2, 2010 6:59 pm
Yay, fellow wooters!

I'm a big woot fan in general. Seems likely that amazon will be leaving them alone to continue being awesome in their own way, thank goodness. I've gotten a bazillion good deals or just fun things there in the past - I have scads of thumb drives, memory cards, flashlights, headphones, and various little gadgets I've picked up dirt cheap over time. If something is really, really cheap I'll buy the max amount and give it away as gifts - I got some black and decker portable battery/inverter thingies that were a big hit, and earplugs/headphones for sure, USB bluetooth dongles, stuff like that. And yeah, I managed to snag the Kindle deal - follow that thread if you wanna see my opinion on it when it arrives and I get a chance to try it out.
Shawnee123 • Jul 2, 2010 7:20 pm
sad, that is a great idea, buying stuff for gifts. Tank you!
Happy Monkey • Jul 7, 2010 10:13 am
Got da camera.
glatt • Jul 7, 2010 10:59 am
Nice price. I'll be curious to hear your comments on image quality.
Happy Monkey • Jul 7, 2010 11:20 am
Not expecting greatness, but it was cheap.
glatt • Jul 7, 2010 11:36 am
It's a nice size too. A camera like that, you can just leave at work, or leave in a glove compartment for those time you wish you had a camera handy.

I'm curious to see. That's an amazing price for the pixels. Making a decent lens is like shooting fish in a barrel these days. I'm guessing the achilles heel is something electronic. Wondering where the biggest cost is? Maybe there are good and crappy chips 12Mp vs 12 Mp?
glatt • Jul 7, 2010 11:44 am
well, the big problem with increasing the pixels in a chip is that you also are increasing the noise. It's not so apparent in professional quality cameras with their physically larger chips, but the tiny chips in point and shoot cameras are really susceptible to this problem. At this point, I think anything over, say, 8 megapixels in a point and shoot actually becomes a liability because of all the noise.

The industry really needs to work on the noise problem.
Sundae • Jul 7, 2010 11:54 am
That's the next one up from my camera (10.2 megapixels)
Gutted it's so cheap.

Then again, mine's pink ;)

That's why I wear ear plugs when I'm taking pictures.
Gravdigr • Oct 13, 2010 4:40 am
This looks like a fair deal.
glatt • Jun 23, 2011 1:17 pm
Woot has a decent consumer level camera for sale today for a very good price.

Panasonic Lumix 12.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom
$69.99

It's got the optical image stabilization. Not a huge zoom, but with 12 MP to play with you can do a little cropping to get in even closer. I wish this was for sale when I bought a camera for my daughter a year ago.
Happy Monkey • Jun 23, 2011 1:52 pm
Woot: my source for buckyballs.
