I know posting Tom Tomorrow cartoons is pretty common here but this one i think its particuarly interesting - in specific, the last cell. Its not a point I've seen raised before recently. Anyone who hangs around fark is going to groan at this one but if America attacks Iraq have the terrorists already won? Just food for thought.
"Have the terrorists already won" is a pretty common phrase, and I think it loses some of its meaning every time I hear it. It's right up there with "make no mistake" and "in the wake of". Whether or not they "won" or not is a very nebulous thing. It all depends on what their goals were, and it's really only something that they themselves can answer. I think it's going to get to the point where you could say this phrase after doing nearly anything.
I do see what you're saying, though, and i'm sure that's exactly what al-quaeda had in mind.
