School's Out For Summer!

well by 10:30am tomorrow. they go in (at 8:08), get their yearbooks, have an assembly to wave bye to the 8th grade, get their reports and it's all over. Yep end of school day 10:30.

FREEEEEEEEEEDOM except not. but you know...

There's a pool party at 1, then swim practice (and hebe has a birthday party to go to), then we're trying to fix to watch the Redwings on the poolside, have a bit of a stanley cup pool party..... someone (not drinking) will have to go and fetch hebe, and then I'll be up all night madly trying to get reay for my alleged yard sale on Saturday.

I knew a group of ladies who would have a party every year to celebrate the kids going BACK to school. I was always invited as the "young and childless" token party-goer.

A group of mothers was celebrating their son's graduations on someone's balcony and it collapsed. One of the mothers was killed.

Just goes to show that celebrating the end of school is not all it's cracked up to be.

It's so much more of a deal (for me) than when I was at school and summer meant the start of interminable boredom. Now it means ..... um.... 8am starts SIX days a week

I'm never ready for them to go back. there's always so much more I want to do with them.

And soon they are off to college. And suddenly you realize you are not really going to miss them all that much.

I love having them home for summer vacation too, and doing things with them.

BUT

When they fight, I'm over it. It's been a week. A LONG week.

Fortunately, they are both going to day camp next week. And the week after that, the oldest goes to resident camp. Then cheer camp. Then two weeks of insanity before they both go off to camp again, and I signed on to go with one of them for 5 days (did I mention I'm a GS co-leader?). Then I don't know what we'll do!

Some people think it means "Her Imperial Majesty's Elite Orbital Bomber Squadron", but it doesn't really matter, because it doesn't exist.
