Congrats to you, sir. You have definitely earned all the admiration, although you have been getting scarce around here as of late, so we may need to have a word with said GF.

Nicht so schnell (the only phrase I remember from German class)
He's still going to need a lot of support through college.

Congrats Ibby. I assume college is next. Where're you going?

Nice work. Nice family. Nicely done. :)
Elspode • Jun 1, 2009 8:58 pm
I'll bet there was a lot fewer people making a huge noisy fuss over their pals as they walked across the stage at your graduation than there were at my kid's. Four different people (starting with the President of the School Board and working down to regular students) asked the audience four different times, in four different ways, to please refrain from whoopin' and hollerin' at individual graduates in order to keep from disrupting the proceedings, but certain induhviduals just gotta make it all about them.

Cops threw 'em out as they did it, and after awhile, the assholes would make an even bigger fuss than the assholes before, then stand up and walk out...usually with a certain "fuck you all" swagger to their departures. Do I *have* to tell anyone that there was a certain co$mmon ethnicity to 90% of the assholes, BTW? I'm sure that this is a mere cultural difference of which my WASP ass is simply intolerant. Probably a perfectly valid display of social communication, like murder and robbery and carjacking, and I'm just a prejudiced dickhead.

End of disgusted rant. Ibs, way to go, bro. I used my HS diploma to roll joints on for a few years. I trust you'll find a better purpose for yours.

Congratulations Ibby! I haven't caught up with all of the threads, so which college did you choose?

My friends son will be starting at Arcadia (Beaver) in the fall. My son just graduated from Neumann College (University).
Undertoad • Jun 1, 2009 10:39 pm
Ah yes, Beaver College, which used to be an all-girl's school.

You look awesome Ibs! You always make go "awww" and wanna smother you with hugs. I'm glad you got to have a good day on the graduation, I hope you responsible that night :P

@Elz...we had people with airhorns at my, my sis's (HS and college!) and my bro's graduation. Our ceremony was inside. Fortunately there were only a few. I can understand how hard it is for some people to not go wild for their individual. I do agree that its rude and inconsiderate to the rest. I would not agree to the ethnicity part...the airhorn carriers were white.
Ibby • Jun 2, 2009 8:16 am
Bennington College in the fall. Any new england dwellars out there?

Always wondered why that would be a good thing.

Why not say the world is your ring-tailed lemur?

Sometimes you find surprises in oysters. You might find a surprise in a ring-tailed lemur, but you probably left it there, and I would be wary of such a find.
Sundae • Jun 2, 2009 1:24 pm
Also, oysters take in grit and use it to create pearls.
If the world is your oyster, it will take all the shit you have to feed it, and give you something wonderful in return.

That's the way life goes, right?

To the beetle, the dung IS the pearl.

I can only report what I observed. In a school where the ratio is about 50/50, 90% of those making a big outburst were of a single ethnicity. I do not offer this as an indictment of an entire race, just the local examples at that place and time.

As was Bennington..

Bennington College is a liberal arts college located in Bennington, Vermont, USA. The College was founded in 1932 as a women's college focusing on arts, sciences, and humanities. It became co-educational in 1969.

Beaver went co-ed in 1972. I could have gone there a few years after that. The ratio would have been at least 5:1.

WTG Ibby. The world is your oyster, kiddo!

If he'd wanted oysters, he should have picked a school in a different New England state.;)
glatt • Jun 2, 2009 8:46 pm
'69 was the year that several women's colleges switched positions.

I'm very skeptical. I'll have to see some examples.
