What aren't you doing this weekend?

Griff • May 20, 2009 6:43 am
I was going to Fort Ticonderoga for an outdoor epee event.

1) Dad's Altzheimers caused him some serious problems, so it is family meeting time.
2) We're feeding teh lil' goat every 6 hours and didn't want to hang that on my nephew.

Ft. Ti and surrounding activities/ADK based friends visit is right out.

So, what aren't you up to this weekend. Feel free to piss and moan.

I'm not going where I'd really like to go, but other than that:

Friday/Saturday, helping my best friend move into her new house, and probably help her drink a couple beers. What are friends for?

Sunday. Nothing! Day of Sloth.

Monday. Younger brother's house.

I also won't be going to CO to see my nephew with my older brother and sister-in-law: he's deploying to Afghanistan on June 4th. :(

I won't be getting enough sleep. The FIL is visiting; he gets up early. And falls asleep at 8:30pm.

Probably won't get to go wake boarding / jet skiing as planned - supposed to be thunderstorms off and on all weekend. Don't want to be in the middle of a lake when lightning strikes. :tinfoil:

And Griff, what's an epee event? You all allergic to bees? (I'm assuming you meant teepee, which will suck to miss - I'm sorry.)

going to a baby shower; and enjoying my extra "day of sloth." Maybe I'll get up extra early one day and watch some balloons rise.

You can still come to Colorado, though.

My brother in law is also deploying to A. He's in WA right now, though.

Awww, you're sweet.

Hey, best wishes to your BIL. :)

You can only come to CO if you come see me too!

Thanks...same to you and your brother.

And you have to visit HLJ if you come out here, too.

Here is the wiki explanation...

...and the particular event.

My FIL had a teepee event last week btw. Torn canvas but repairable.

Hey Griff, make the best of it. :D

I'm not going to Indy with my SIL's and brothers because I have to work. I'm am sooooo bummed.
BrianR • May 21, 2009 2:25 pm
I wanted to go see the new Terminator movie, but my boss wants me to drive to Rockford, IL instead. Bastard! So I'm out of Dallas for IL, again. There's no freight up there so I may be there a while!
glatt • May 21, 2009 2:42 pm
Do they have movie theaters there?
SteveDallas • May 21, 2009 3:46 pm
Why is it important for you to be there so soon, if there's not (yet) any freight for you to haul?
BrianR • May 21, 2009 4:11 pm
I have freight going TO Rockford, but I'm betting there won't be any going back OUT for two or three days. Been there, done that.

I happen to know that there's very little freight in that area on weekends.

I'm gonna HATE this weekend!!
BrianR • May 21, 2009 4:16 pm
I'm sure there's a theatre there, but have you ever tried to park/maneuver a semi in their parking lots?

It's challenging, to say the least. It would be more possible if I didn't have a trailer, but I will. So that's out. I should be in Montgomery, AL Tuesday-ish so maybe there.

I've got several different projects finishing up as I complete the remodeling on my parent's home in Atlanta so we can see it.

Second coat of paint in hallway and stairwell entry area
2 coats of paint on hallway doors and door molding, baseboard and crown molding.
Finish window seat in family room
Patch several spots of hardwood parquee flooring in family room so refinishing floors can begin next week.
Spend some morning time up in the attic before it warms up finishing off electric work, covering junction boxes and putting the insulation batts back in place.
Stain deck if rain stays away.
Remove old worn out slate tile in entry area and prep for new floor.
Install countertop in master bathroom, put sink in and finish plumbing.
Hang new mirror in master bathroom

Yeah, that should about do it.
