Heading to ____________. How about you?
I thought I would open a thread for those of us going on short trips so anyone can post on this and share pictures or travel adventure stories after they come back.
And I will start. We just got back from the semi-final National Championship Div 1, 2, and 3 level USA Rugby competions where I was an assistant ref. Good weekend, wet on and off.
Next we are going to Freeport, the Bahamas Thurs for an Old Boys Rugby trip. I hooked up with a team out of Hotlanta and the wife and I are going for an all adult fun trip where I will get to play part of a rugby match with a bunch of guys from the ages of 65 to 35. We have been excited about it and the wife has been packing for a month. It is only a five day trip but should be fun. I just checked the weather and it looks like it is going to be a muddy match, rain from Thurs through Sunday. At least it will not be to hot for that 80 min; it sure has put a damper in the planned beach time. I will try to post some pics.
I'm off to the pantry for some filtered water. No camera with me, but I'll report back when I return.
Well, the pantry was nice, but I wouldn't want to live there. I had to pass through three security check points (doors) each way. On the way there, the first two were easy crossings, but the third required that I present my ID to the reader.
The pantry is pretty nice. It's clean and well organized. Nicer than my own office, actually. Much larger and cleaner, and it seems brighter. I always worry about getting sick when I travel so I washed my hands upon arrival. Then I helped myself to some delicious filtered water.
The return trip was more arduous. Isn't it always? It was easy getting out of the pantry, but I had to pass through two security check points coming back, and present my ID both times. This was complicated by the fact that I was laden with filtered water. I eventually made it back, and am grateful to be safely back in one piece in home sweet home.
As great as a trip to the pantry can be, it is always so nice to get back home again.
home again, home again.
jiggidy jig jig
I'm off to the closet. There's a bottle of water there, along with prepackaged coffee pods. I hope to have an afternoon cup of coffee--preferably with half-and-half, but that's in a fridge in the next office, and I'd run the risk of meeting other people.
Oh, I forgot to mention how eerie my trip was. There wasn't a soul in the pantry or on the way there and back. I could hear people all around, but I saw no one!
I'm gonna go make some copies of this contract package. If I'm not back in 3 minutes.....flee!
made it. I had to wait in line.....
You know the last time LJ posted one of his contracts it was 'shopped.
I took our foreign national visitor on a quick trip to the restrooms. Babysitting can be such a hassle.
Did you have to explain the clockwise/counterclockwise water swirling?
stevedallas finally traded that model T
25% interest ? Ouch!
I am going to Minnesota in June. Uff Da!
25% interest ? Ouch!
Jim said he'd find me a loan with an interest rate I wouldn't believe.
I am off to take a dump. I will bring you all pictures.

He's from Quebec. You know, those poutine eating semi-Frenchmen.
I'm off on a REAL trip -with the 5th and 6th grade to adventure camp for 3 days :D
byeeeee
I'll wait til 9am, OK?
Zipline first, then ropes course, then archery......
wow...have a fun time.
and don't get injured. For some reason, i picture you returning on crutches. be extra careful out there!
well gee thanks. crutches. pffff. if i fuck up, it'll be in style -watch for my obit ;)
Or watch the police report for me being hauled away for going nuts and kiling a teacher and three kids (yes, i have a list....)
Does the zipline run through the archery field? Could teach the kids some advanced calculus with that set up.
I'll suggest it..... :D
is not ropes second, it's 500foot climbing tower
::: packs like mad ...is 4 sleeping bags enough? :::
500foot climbing tower
This is a joke right? That about the height of the Washington Monument. That's a tall tower. No way I'd climb that.

yes. if's 55feet really......
I did a ropes course a few years ago and loved it... but it was scary. Walking across a log 30ft up in the trees. Yeah. That was my favorite part, better than the zip line.
I'm back!!! It was awesome. no crutches but a bruise that deserves posting, its...... incredible.
And I did the zipline. the ropes course was not a high up one like the one last week that i had to leave before it was my turn. i got about halfway up the climbing wall and yes, the zipline was right next the the archery! teehee.
Sounds fun Mon :)
I am ...heading to my bath (with full on bath oils and candles) and then bed (with a book). I will not be taking pics :P
you have earned it. Good night.
Home again, jiggity jog, a few bruises, nothing broken. We lost the match but had a great party, for 5 straight days.
(massive pic deletia)
Yea, sorry about that. To late to edit it and make it smaller. One of the mods can do it.
Welcome back. Glad you had fun.
Where did you go? (Aside from the beach) I must have missed that part.

Uh, sure! Just give me the password to your imageshack account and I will take care of it.

Bahamas for 5 days to play some rugby (for the first time in like 16 yrs).
Our next trip is to Las Vegas for the LV 7's. This is a surprise as it is an invite for a referee exchange. Anyone live out this way?
Pics of the trip. 1. It rained mostly due to a tropical depression. 2. Some spots of sun that never lasted long. This is the Westin hotel pool. 3. Rugby! I played #8, first game in 16 years. 3. A line out. I am the bald dude.
1. Another scum, me at #8. 2. Group photo after the match. 3. The pool at the Freeport RFC that overlooks the pitch. 4. The final day had sun. A day at Taino Beach. There was a ton of seaweed on the beach after the storms. It really was not that great.
Port Lucaya, Freeport, Bahamas.
O.M.G. Look at the ocean. Me WANT.
Umm...I assume you meant scrum? :P
no Dana, Merc was admitting to being scum! :haha:
*grins*
Does that mean he's The Daddy now? (one for the brits)
Super Congenial Understanding Man
what did you think I meant?
*chuckles* well, obviously that's what I assumed you meant !
Just got back from a Rugby Tourny in Las Vegas. Man what a place. If you have never been you have to see it at least once in your life. I could never live in that place but I am glad I had a chance to go out and see it. It was sort of like being on a massive cruise ship. Tons of people, all kinds, from the lowest class to the upper crust, in dress, money, etc. Very interesting.
Well, the pantry was nice, but I wouldn't want to live there.
That's the funniest thing I've read in days.
I don't get out much though.

You didn't happen to see a bunch called the Santo Ruggers from Santa Fe NM did you?
I don't recall them. There was a team from NM Tech. It was a 7's Tourny.
Next, 4th of July weekend, Wilmington, DE. Cape Fear 7's Rugby Tourny.

I might be moving (well, going) to Montana soon. :)

Any idea where you might end up going in Montana?
I've only been living in Montana a short time but I suggest avoiding Butte. Creepiest place ever.

I have a close friend/occasional boss who owns
a town next to the Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument, and he's in desperate need of an administrative right hand for a few weeks a month over the summer.
He's flown me out there (almost) every year since he bought the property in 1994, when it was nothing more than a ratty old hand-built house and leaking gas station. He's worked his butt off and turned it into something pretty damned impressive. Anyway, it's a hell of a gig, and I can use the dough. :)
If you ever get out that way, find Chris and tell him "The chicken lady in SW WA sent me." You'll get the grand treatment.

Never been to Butte but thanks for the head's up. What makes it so creepy?
Heading to the pool for the annual swimathon. 150 miles. camping out there over night with a zillion overtired, overexcited and oversugared kids. Wish me luck!
Ugg. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Good luck.
I might be moving (well, going) to Montana soon. :)
Are you going to raise dental floss and become a tycoon? :D
Yes. And I'm gonna get me a pony, just about this big. :D
I love that you got that. One of my favs.
I'm alive. Although I had to take my contact lenses out already. Couldn't find my lens case when I finally went to bed last night, so I had to sleep with them in.
I love that you got that. One of my favs.
How can one
not admire the gleam from a pair of heavy-duty zircon-encrusted tweezers in the moonlighty night?
I mean, really.
Oh man, that was awesome! (And what a stylish dresser our Frank was!)
Until now, my appreciation of all that is Zappa was limited to record albums - you know, those flat black plastic thingies from the dark ages. Never got a chance to see him live and he left us much too soon. Thanks for the visual education!
Found a vid of another favorite Zappa tune... enjoy!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owVF97pZFFs&feature=relatedVery cool. Yea, I have a bunch of boxes of those flat plastic round things.
I was just singing St. Alphonso's PB to my cow-orker. She thinks I'm insane.
This isn't news to anyone. :D
I have a new found appreciation for you. :D
Whelp... off I go. Destination: Billings. Wheee!
Have fun, and good luck with the floss farm!

There will bee MUCH Beer consumed !!
Just got back from a week in Jamaica. Best trip ever for a couple. We went to an all inclusive resort and did nothing but lay in the sun, meet lots of really great people, and drink and eat. That will be on the rinse and repeat list for next year.
Sounds like a lot of fun TM. I'm currently working on planning the itinerary for our trip to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone at the end of the month. We're hoping for a photo safari of some type - and are looking forward to the trip!
our trip to Jackson Hole
you have tickets for the burial?
our trip to Jackson Hole
Taking photos through it is acceptable, but whatever you do,
don't pee in it! :D
