Upgrade done

Undertoad • Mar 26, 2009 3:20 pm
The upgrade is done. New features in your Cellar include

- Thread tagging. Here's a way to note threads for future reference, for example, if there were several threads about safaris you could tag them all "safari". You can search by tag. Easily get back to what you want to get back to.

- As labby says, more Facebooky features under the community drop-down menu item. There's a Profile Privacy menu item under the control panel now, where you can specify who gets to see what. The default is that everyone gets to see, so if you don't want that, change before uploading any pictures or diving out any details.

The Calendar, which I thought would be fixed, still does not show 2009. It's on my list.

You rock UT! :notworthy:

The vbulletin option looks crisper to me?
classicman • Mar 26, 2009 3:32 pm
neatoooooooooooooooooooooooo
glatt • Mar 26, 2009 3:33 pm
Cool. Thanks, UT.

The album feature is interesting. I made one just to try it, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I was tempted to start an open public group called "the cool dwellars" as a joke, but then got all self-conscious.
Shawnee123 • Mar 26, 2009 3:33 pm
lj has one already. :)

I am so not sure what to do with contacts/friends and wonder how stealthily I'll be able to stalk the mens now.
Sheldonrs • Mar 26, 2009 3:34 pm
And FINALLY, the carpet matches the drapes!!! :D
glatt • Mar 26, 2009 3:35 pm
Oh, cool. I see lumberjim started a group. Inside the group, I clicked on his name to see what it would show me. It took me to his profile, which now says that I'm the last person to view his profile. No more stalking people anonymously.
Shawnee123 • Mar 26, 2009 3:36 pm
DAMN
Cicero • Mar 26, 2009 4:17 pm
Todays Posts!!! Yes!! :)
SteveDallas • Mar 26, 2009 4:17 pm
Show the tags arae private for each of us? Or will everybody see whatever tags I put up?
Shawnee123 • Mar 26, 2009 4:19 pm
This is cool. I am having fun figuring out the new options.

And I haz a friend!
Clodfobble • Mar 26, 2009 4:27 pm
I'm seeing tags I did not put up, so I assume they're all public.
glatt • Mar 26, 2009 4:33 pm
If the "tag cloud" includes everyone's tags, it will be jammed full of tags and won't be so useful. If I have to skim through 100 tags to find the one I want, that's not so helpful. Not that I even know what I'd be doing with tags anyway.
Shawnee123 • Mar 26, 2009 4:39 pm
Heh...I saw Cloud and just thought Cloud had tagged that thread.
Cicero • Mar 26, 2009 4:41 pm
Every time I see this thread title I think of the movie "Idiocracy" and of the prostitute in the movie saying, "up-grayed".........ok sorry....moving on.
Flint • Mar 26, 2009 4:43 pm
If I did a FLINT'S BALLS tag you would all have to look at it?
Shawnee123 • Mar 26, 2009 4:52 pm
What happens if I go imbisible (like Flint's balls?)
Sheldonrs • Mar 26, 2009 4:58 pm

They're not invisible. They just haven't dropped yet. :D

But there's also a search box, you don't have to pick the tag you want out of the cloud. For example, I just skimmed through the Food & Drink forum and tagged a bunch of threads that have "recipes" in them (including your awesome spiced walnut recipe, for example, which was off in some Christmas thread somewhere...) I also tagged a couple threads as "in-jokes" so they'll be easier to find and link to in the future when an explanation is needed.
Cicero • Mar 26, 2009 5:01 pm
So are the tags you guys tagging? I am seeing tags I didn't create.

Oh looky there! I can see where everyone is right now.
Undertoad • Mar 26, 2009 5:45 pm
I've tagged all the animal IotDs for the last year or so, with "animal" and then what animal(s).
richlevy • Mar 26, 2009 9:43 pm
So cool. I've just started an album (Glatt beat me to it). I uploaded the "Cellar Class of 2003" photo from Plastic Forks.

So if I want to, I could upload 'special' pictures and restrict the viewing to only the hot babes like Brianna, Cloud, etc.:p

BTW, I collected Plastic Forks photos from other contributors and I have a great profile shot of Bruce looking like a pirate king.:D But I can't post it without his permission.:(
xoxoxoBruce • Mar 27, 2009 3:04 am
I do like the new pop-up for linking in a post.
classicman • Mar 27, 2009 8:49 am
The little icon in tabs is different too. What is that silver thing anyway? Any way to make it a little monkey head?

So far, the few changes I've figured out are pretty cool.
lumberjim • Mar 27, 2009 11:25 am
good job tony....

have we told you lately that we love you?
Undertoad • Mar 27, 2009 11:35 am
You don't outright say it, but I feel it, like an warm summer breeze developing in my gut.
lumberjim • Mar 27, 2009 11:42 am
WELL...that simile took a nasty turn....
Undertoad • Mar 27, 2009 11:54 am
No no, like all men, I enjoy my own brand.
glatt • Mar 27, 2009 3:03 pm
Just playing around with the photo albums a little and seeing what they can do for me.

It looks like you can put pictures in your photo album and then link to them in a post so that they will be within the text. I'm going to try it here.

Whoever took the order for this cake didn't understand.

I threw away an old couch a few years ago, and I could have done this instead. :smack:

And these are some flexible young women. Girls, really. Children.

Lions have fun too, and elephants get jealous. Or agitated. Or something.

This glatt character sure is smooth.

Well, this works out well. I like it better than 2 attachments at the bottom. Seems to be a limit of 60 images in an album. Is that 60 pictures per album, or 60 per user?
Sheldonrs • Mar 27, 2009 3:07 pm
Those flexigirls look like a representation of a small intestine.
Shawnee123 • Mar 27, 2009 3:38 pm
Would someone go into my user profile and tell me what you see? I've turned most stuff off: wouldn't want to deter any stalkers. I am mostly wondering if "the last visitor" stuff shows now. Anyone? Thanks. ;)

Yup, it's pretty barren. Where's the fun in that?
Shawnee123 • Mar 27, 2009 3:48 pm
Good. Stalkers, stalk away. Please.

Oh, and I keep seeing the tags thing below and I wonder who the new members are: Dwellar simile and Dwellar upgrade.

Looks like a bunch of people have gone private. I guess I will join them.
glatt • Mar 27, 2009 4:08 pm
I was just looking at a lot of pages, and most people are keeping the default.
classicman • Mar 27, 2009 4:41 pm
I don't have any idea how to change whatever setting I already have. I did something by accident once about 9-12 months ago and needed a mod fix it. Change setting now?? :headshake

But I did see this on my profile -
Recent Visitors
The last 3 visitor(s) to this page were:
1. glatt
2. henry quirk
3. morethanpretty

thought that was an interesting group.
Shawnee123 • Mar 27, 2009 4:44 pm
You're popsular!

I have the loneliest little profile on the planet. ;)

OK, where did I put that zoom lens??
Shawnee123 • Mar 27, 2009 4:45 pm
That'd have to be one big...um, zoom.
SteveDallas • Mar 27, 2009 4:51 pm
Depends how far away I am from your house. Don't assume I'm staying in Pennsylvania to stalk you.

Besides, everybody knows size doesn't matter. It's what you do with it.
Undertoad • Mar 27, 2009 4:59 pm
OK so now I learn that vBulletin is going to release version 4.0 beta in the next 1-2 months...

It sounds like it'll be a pretty good one:

Cross-content search system providing a single interface to search across forum posts, blog entries and comments and other supported products

Improved search performance

A fresh design and layout making use of semantic markup and CSS styling

An enhanced style and template system to enhance your ability to change the layout

Controls to assist with the placement of advertising elements

SEO features, including friendly URLs
Gawrsh! Anyway, all that sounds pretty cool, but we will have to sit back and see how the communities accept it before rating it Cellar-Ready(TM).
Pico and ME • Mar 27, 2009 5:21 pm
Shawnee I sent you a friend request. See if that shows up.
monster • Mar 27, 2009 6:05 pm
I always end up in profiles by accident when I misclick to read threads. Maybe the new upgrade is so smart it will realize the misclick and send me to the right place so i don't look like a serial stalker? or is that cereal stalker?
