8/15/2002: India rain-makers

A rainmaking prayer ceremony in drought-stricken Allahabad, India, requires women to march behind a priest while holding potted plants on their heads.

I thought the picture was just silly when I first saved it. But we need these women here now... about half the US is in drought conditions. The area where I am (eastern Pennsylvania) has seen 6-10 inches less than normal rainfall this summer, on top of a year of very under-average rain/snowfall.

Call Dresden -- I hear they can spare some water. I think Texas will be alright for the rest of the year, as well. Good luck to ya!
