Cellar downtime scheduled

Undertoad • Mar 9, 2009 3:07 pm
The server running the Cellar has to be moved. This move is scheduled to happen Wednesday night (US Eastern time), sometime after 11 pm.

One hopes the system boots normally after it is moved, but in rare instances the server may not boot or the people moving it may not put it back on the network correctly, etc. If anything goes wrong in the move it will be taken care of the following morning.

You delivered that information with all the matter of fact care one might employ in explaining why a comfort blanket is whooshing round a washing machine.

Waaaaail!

the lumbernet awaits you......

to help with the symptoms of cellar withdrawal, we are offering free membership this week only.

so...like are you going to do the VB upgrade while you're at it?

It's lucky I have to spend some time at the hospital on thursday. I don't know what I'd do without the cellar to keep me occupied lately.

Are there going to be many/any changes from a posters point of view UT?

Wow. I knew the feds were going to show up one day.:cop:

If the Cellar ever entered witness protection, would they change the name to smeller.org?
Undertoad • Mar 9, 2009 10:37 pm
I wouldn't make any changes over a server downtime period!
Aliantha • Mar 9, 2009 10:38 pm
I don't know what switching servers means. I'm a techno doofus. Just wanted to ask.
lumberjim • Mar 10, 2009 12:27 am
there's a link to the lumbernet on jimhelm.net

it's a blank canvas. there's no chatroom though.

So, this is no Cellar for one night?
Undertoad • Mar 10, 2009 12:32 pm
Either 15 minutes, or one night and into the morning. I'm betting on 15 minutes, but there are no guarantees. Two servers have to successfully shut down, move, boot and recognize the new network. A lot of shit can happen.

:worried:
Undertoad • Mar 11, 2009 7:42 pm
Good : they are gonna call me before the move, so I can shut everything down safely and then monitor it when it comes back.
lumberjim • Mar 11, 2009 10:58 pm
so is this like an 11pm sharp kind of thing, or just.....around 11?
Cicero • Mar 11, 2009 11:04 pm
11 your time? Or 11 my time?
Undertoad • Mar 12, 2009 12:17 am
The move is over and went smoothly. Everything should be back.
DanaC • Mar 12, 2009 6:41 am
Wait, what? I missed it?
Shawnee123 • Mar 12, 2009 10:33 am
I never even noticed.

Thanks UT! :)

are you sure the soul of the cellar made the trip intact?

"Sure it's Pete! Look at him!"
NoBoxes • Mar 13, 2009 4:33 am
I dunno, everytime the Cellar goes offline for whatever reason and returns, the monkey at the top seems to look more and more like lj.

HMMMM, I noticed some changed UT. It's getting a bit more facebookie. I really like the tag feature.

Spring has sprung :)

Will you be my second friend, (after Red of course)?
