How bizarre. I just made a big pot of bean soup and ham hocks last night, and will soon be heating up a bowl for lunch.

Yum! :)

monster • Mar 9, 2009 3:28 pm
We just had pasta and a bologneise-like sauce. And I made soup with some beans in it for later.
Juniper • Mar 9, 2009 3:58 pm
Half a box of GS cookies with a Diet Coke on the way to school. :)
glatt • Mar 9, 2009 4:07 pm
A sandwich and pretzels.
Tiki • Mar 9, 2009 4:50 pm
Leftover mashed potatoes with gravy, some sweet corn, and half a beer.

Can't finish the beer, so it's sitting on my desk with a quarter on it to keep the fruit flies out...

First I had a pile of tortilla chips with cheddar cheese, sour cream and hot sauce. Mostly because I need to use up the chips before they go stale. That was Part A. Then after putting the kids down for naps, I had Part B: frozen blueberries (finished the bag,) and then some microwaved frozen potatoes with cheddar, sour cream, bacon bits, and chives. Mostly because I needed to use up the single serving of potatoes that were left over from some dish I made who knows how long ago.

My lunches are almost always based on what I need to clear out of the fridge.
glatt • Mar 9, 2009 5:14 pm
Human garbage disposal. I'm the same way. Eat the leftovers before they go bad.
DanaC • Mar 9, 2009 7:25 pm
For lunch I went to the Real Pasty Co. in the underground shopping mall on campus. I had: sausage and cheese turnover, a piri-piri chicken flatbread and a latte...

I was stuffed.
Trilby • Mar 9, 2009 7:33 pm
How hot is that piri-piri chicken?
DanaC • Mar 9, 2009 7:36 pm
probably not as hot as you'd imagine...

Which is fortunate for me because I can't tolerate too much chilli heat.
Sundae • Mar 10, 2009 7:58 am
I had Tuscan Bean Soup the other day.
It was yumski-scrumski, but then I did add Tabasco to it.
And bread. Well, in Siena they add stale bread to soup, so it was nearly authentic.

Yesterday I boiled up some lentils and mixed in the salsa I made for Sunday's roast-substitute (oven cooked chicken thighs with baked potato wedges and steamed veg). It was lovely heated up, a spicy, healthy, hearty lunch. And whatever Mum says about Dad having to have a Sunday roast, he didn't touch the gravy I'd made on his behalf, but had second helpings of salsa! Then again, maybe that means the potatoes were bland :( They were good & crispy though.

Today, I'll prolly have a bagel with low fat cheese. Big pasta dinner tonight.

Leftovers go bad? Uh oh ...:greenface
Tiki • Mar 10, 2009 1:46 pm
It's coming up on lunchtime and I'm trying to decide... I just don't think I can do more mashed potatoes, as good as they were! I think I'll go for either a BLT with avocado, or a broccoli-tofu stir fry.
DanaC • Mar 10, 2009 1:52 pm
Breakfast: two small potato cakes with butter and a bananananana..na. Three mugs of coffee.

Dinner: Coffee. 3 Roses chocolates at the funeral parlour (bloody great tray full of them in the consultation room)

Tea: chocolate milk nutrition drink thingie. Brilliant, no cooking, no fuss, don't even have to chew. Gone in about 20 seconds, don't have to think about food for hours now.
Tulip • Mar 10, 2009 2:28 pm
A bowl of wonton soup with noodles. Quick and simple to make since it was frozen. I love how frozen food has evolved. :D
Shawnee123 • Mar 10, 2009 2:31 pm
Banana!
DanaC • Mar 10, 2009 2:41 pm
I'm pretty sure you missed a couple of na's there Shawnee...
Tiki • Mar 11, 2009 1:46 am
I had hash browns for dinner... not exactly healthy, just doing the leftover thing again.
Trilby • Mar 12, 2009 4:19 pm
"fried" chicken (was quasi-ersatz fried chicken) two tablespoons mashed tato, three tablespoon corn, pea, carrot mix, three 1/2 tbsp. cherry "cobbler".

I should sue Healthy Choice.
Pie • Mar 12, 2009 4:33 pm
Pork chop with apple stuffing, sweet potatoes, roasted veggies. Yeah, our cafeteria doesn't suck.

And my favorite ceylon black / mint / lapsang souchong tea blend, iced. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Tastes like Morocco.
DanaC • Mar 12, 2009 7:11 pm
McD Double cheesburger, Cheese and onion pastie from Greggs. Plain sugared doughnut (also from Greggs)
Aliantha • Mar 12, 2009 7:31 pm
Yesterday for lunch I had nachos which weren't very good, and they gave me very bad indigestion followed by a small fruit flan...which was delicious.

Today I might have left over chicken satay.
Pico and ME • Mar 12, 2009 7:55 pm
I wish I could get fruit flan from nachos.

It;s a satisfyingly decadent day!

coffee, movies, books, Pj's, - is very nice. I highly recommend having a day or so of unrepentant sloth every now and then. :)

But there can be no guilt. You must first master the art of No Guilt to enjoy a Truly Slothful Day. Cultivate the Brain of Pooh and you will be there, grasshopper.

:)
Shawnee123 • Mar 13, 2009 12:53 pm
I am in complete agreement with you, Bri. Saturday tends to be my day of sloth, if I take one. I might run to the library and/or the grocery, if anything. Sundays I almost always go to the 'rents.
LabRat • Mar 13, 2009 12:55 pm
TGIF. I have had leftover home made maidrites every stinking day this week. I made a huge batch for a party last Sat night, and only 3 people ate. The rest drank their dinners. After today it's over 7 days old, and officially landfill fodder.

Wanna spice up your maidrite/manwich recipe?? Use medium salsa instead of ketchup :yum:
Trilby • Mar 13, 2009 1:03 pm
How do you make your maidrites, lab?
Tiki • Mar 13, 2009 1:28 pm
Monday is my sloth day... Saturday is my Spending Time With The Kids Day, and Sunday is my Home Improvement Day. The rest of the week is mostly work.

Today I'm having black bean soup for lunch, and I'm also simmering some beef for shepherd pie tonight.
LabRat • Mar 13, 2009 2:04 pm
Bri--

Posted the recipe here for you :)
Trilby • Mar 13, 2009 4:18 pm

Hit a restaurant that just reopened under new management, with the same chef, after going dark abruptly last year. They kept the essentials and favorite dishes, albeit renamed. The English on the menu is pretty shaky in spots: "Ceasar Salad" "in au jus," and a random scattering of greengrocers' apostrophes.

But a darn nice diner-type omelette with sliced black olives, crumbled bacon, chunks of tomato, cheese, sausage, sliced avocado and sour cream. Hefty! This is one of their renamed specials. Coulda had pancakes, but went lighter with fruit cup.
