Mar 2, 2009: Lightning Close

I confess I love lightning pictures, and we did one here.

But Daza123, at ePHOTOzine, captured this shot showing tendrils going all over the neighborhood, and I couldn't resist.

Image

Daza123 says;
Shot, During storm last night from my window.
I know the composition sucks and i didnt even get the ground in the shot but storm was brief i just stuck camera on tripod selected the smallest appeture i could and fired off a few shots..
Got lucky strike about 20ft from me..
Hope you enjoy and the loss of my soiled pants will be worth it...

Yeah, I'll bet it startled him pretty good. :tinfoil:

excellent. Is the fence still there?

I would need a really good camera and an extra pair of shorts to take that picture.

I'm not afraid of many things. But lightning is one of them. Unimaginable power.

I wonder what lightning tastes like? Probably crunchy and bitter.

That looks suspiciously like the UK -which makes it even more awesome -they don't get so many thunderstorms there (as we do here in the US -or at least my part of it), especially not the forked-lightening kind, so much less chance of getting this shot.

From the other Daza123 pictures on the site, I think he is in the UK.

I have a friend who's actually been struck by lightening twice. Couple years later, a big truck drove into his house, demolishing most of it (but not him). About three months ago, he took a trip into town, only to discover his cat in the engine (it lived, barely). A few weeks ago, he nearly cut his thumb off with a *cough* SKILL saw.

Yeah. God hates Gus.

New words for me: astrophobia and brontophobia.
There are others here - LINK

I love storms, but strikes that close would have me inside the house. Yikes!

Glinda-- Sounds to me like God REALLY LIKES Gus a lot.

Once I was almost struck....I got an acidic taste in my mouth like sucking on a battery.

Very cool. Always wanted to get some good lightning shots, determined to do it this summer.
