Feb 27, 2009: Bed of Nails

No, not the skinny Hindu in a diaper and turban type bed of nails.

This guy noticed a bunch of steel, bang with a hammer type, nails in the corner of his porch.
The next thing he knows, a bird has added a few twigs to the nails, and made a bed which she's sitting on.



She must have been good in bed because next there's eggs... then chicklets.



The bed of nails was productive.

What a considerate mother bird.
Built-in toothpicks to take care of those stringy pieces that get stuck between my teeth after the barbecue.

And the babies' names are Rusty and Patina.


And here's how it all happened.

First, too many screwdrivers. Then she got hammered.
Then she got nailed.

It is stone, steel and the eggs are enamel on fine silver (.999 pure silver). A similar nest by the same artist is on the Enamelist Society brochure. I think I need to send her the url so that she can see a bird has copied her!
