The miracles of modern medicine

Sheldonrs • Feb 23, 2009 4:54 pm
I woke up Friday morning with a sharp pain in my side. It got worse on Saturday. My ex drove me to emergency Saturday night. Sunday morning they took out my appendix and I was discharged Sunday night.
No scars or stiches. Just some super glue and tape and even the soreness is almost gone.
When I was a kid if you had an appendectomy, you were lucky if you were out of the hospital in a week.
I'm even going back to work tomorrow. Don't even need to take the Oxycodone they prescribed. Yay for modern times. :-)

Two kids I knw (okay, one only vaguely) died of peritonitis in my childhood.
So glad you were diagnosed and operated on in time.

Yay for modern medicine.
Very happy it saved you.

Wow! Modern times indeed! That's awesome Shel.

Aren't they taking those things out thru the butthole or vagina yet? I thought I heard that somewhere...

Glad to hear you're ok!

:-)

It's all done through 3 holes now. One for the camera, one for the snipper clamp and one to move the other organs out of the way.

So, you were back on your knees in no time? :p

For some of the doctors and male nurses I saw there, I would have been on my knees during the surgery. ;-)

Like the Nathan Hale of appendicitis:
I regret that I have but one appendix for this doctor to remove...

Glad you're better, Shel. Glad it was an easy-go.

my first reaction, however, was to wonder if you wanted to off those oxycodones...selfish addict.

Maybe it's a sign of the times but that's the 1st thing everyone asks about. What meds did I get. lol!!

Glad to hear you are well! but why did you get the hole sealed up; you could have had more fun with it!

A myopic and horny Parisian
Once screwed and appendix incision
The girl of his choice
Could hardly rejoice
At this terrible lack of precision.

:bandaid: Shel! I'm glad you're OK. :)

Because it's not really sex unless it's in the ass. ;)

So, then I'm still a virgin?
Pie • Feb 23, 2009 8:47 pm
Glad you're okay, Shelly. Laproscopic surgery is definitely the way to go! :thumb:
Aliantha • Feb 23, 2009 9:05 pm
One of my kids had that superglue stuff put on his head instead of stitches once. It's good stuff.

I didn't realise they could seal up a surgery hole with it though.

Yay for you Shel. Glad you're ok.
Clodfobble • Feb 23, 2009 10:37 pm
My whole c-section was done with superglue. That stuff is extremely effective. Glad to hear you're okay, Shel! But don't throw out those pain pills just yet, your body may suddenly realize in another day or two what just happened...
Sheldonrs • Feb 24, 2009 6:37 am
Thanks all. And don't worry about the pills. If my pain doesn't flare up from the surgery, I'm sure the pain in my ass when I start to do all the work waiting for me at MAW will inspire my need. :-)
wolf • Feb 24, 2009 11:25 am
Glad you're doing well, Sheldon!
Griff • Feb 24, 2009 7:13 pm
Congrats on the successful surgery Shel! Modernity is kinda cool.
Sheldonrs • Feb 25, 2009 8:58 am
Thanks guys. :-)

And Foot, I could take care of that for you. muahahaha
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 25, 2009 9:07 am
What a generous guy you are. :haha:
Glad your hospital trip was quick and easy.

when I start to do all the work waiting for me at MAW will inspire my need.
Does being busy mean people are still giving in tough times, or just that there's still much need?

We are actually doing really well. Our holiday season did better than we had expected and the goal my dept. had set to reach by the end of our fiscal year in June was passed already a few weeks ago.

I think it's a combination of more people giving to us instead of buying lots of gifts and people who are worried but want some measure of control so they give to us just to know that they can still do that.
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 25, 2009 9:33 am
Glad to hear that, I know the need is there. I'm sure uncle Shel brightens up a lot of kid's days. :D
sweetwater • Feb 25, 2009 9:44 am
I was spayed laprascopically, no stitches either. Much easier! I'm happy for ya - but secretly - don't you rather miss the sympathy just a bit, and perhaps the time spent recovering-but-really-web surfing-and reading-and-not doing chores? :)

Thanks. I prefer getting laid to getting laid to rest too. ;)

Blimey, this seems to have made you randier than usual! What color are the little pills they gave you?
