hadn't posted in awhile, so i thought i would throw up this photo of a friend, skim boarding in the pre-dawn light in Vancouver. . .
Quality Image!
It's photomatopoeic, if you know what I mean. ;)
hmmm.
i really like that word, but i am not sure if i do know what you mean. . .
that the photo captures the essence of skimming?
that the word skimming should look like this?
uh. that might be the same thing worded differently.
never mind.
but please explain your interpretation of photomatopoeic - a very cool word. . .
Main Entry: on.o.mato.poe.ia
Pronunciation: "ä-n&-"mä-t&-'pE-&, -"ma-
Function: noun
Etymology: Late Latin, from Greek onomatopoiia, from onomat-, onoma name + poiein to make -- more at POET
Date: circa 1577
1 : the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound associated with it (as buzz, hiss)
2 : the use of words whose sound suggests the sense
- on.o.mato.poe.ic /-'pE-ik/ or on.o.mato.po.et.ic /-pO-'e-tik/ adjective
- on.o.mato.poe.i.cal.ly /-'pE-&-k(&-)lE/ or on.o.mato.po.et.i.cal.ly /-pO-'e-ti-k(&-)lE/ adverb
I think your image is a photographic imitation of the action it captures -- skimming. That might be termed photomatopoeic.
