Having driven off many travelers with endless security checks, long delays at the airports and the dreaded baggage checking charge, several airlines are having a mid winter sale.
Here are a couple I found, mostly from my home of Houston but I bet there are good deals from most major airports around the USA as well as the world.
• Washington Reagan National, $198 nonstop on Continental, Feb. 17-24, for example.
• Las Vegas, $214 on Southwest from Hobby, March 4-11, for example. The same on Continental from IAH.
• Los Angeles, $218 on Southwest from Hobby, Feb. 10-17, for example.
• Montego Bay, Jamaica, $252 on Delta, Feb. 9-16, for example.
• Merida, Mexico, $333, March 15-22, for example, a Sunday to Sunday. Travel midweek to shave $40 off that price.
• Honolulu, $434 nonstop on Continental, March 12-18, for example. A sort of price usually seen only in the off-season.
• Venice, Italy, $526 on Delta through Priceline.com, Feb. 27-March 3, for example.
• Munich, Germany, $529 on United through Priceline.com, Feb. 10-15, for example.
• Taipei, Taiwan, $975 on a combination of Continental and United, through Orbitz.com, Feb. 16-March 2.
• Johannesburg, South Africa, $982, March 9-22, for example. When was the last time you saw a fare to South Africa for under $1000! I paid 1200 last November!
