I believe Richlevy lost a neighbor this week. For me, Wyeth's paintings spark childhood memories of the some of the old desperate farms which were so common here.

Yes - he is gone.. very sad. Got to meet him several times in some local eateries. Outstanding sweet, kind, gentle soul who was full of stories and always had a smile and a hello.

Is this the last generation of Wyeths?

IIRC - He has some sons or a son and a daughter - not really sure actually. I think I met his son once as we ended up at he same restaurant that they were in. Sorry, its been a long time.

I honestly didn't know he was still alive. I used to have that Christina's World print in my dorm room in college.
The next generation of Wyeths (Jamie I think) is still active painting on the Maine coast.

Those are fabulous! they remind me of Tomi Ungerer's illustrations in his book "Far out isn't far enough".

I had a book as a kid, called Hex House. I was fascinated because it was about a girl who moved into a hexagonal house.

They used Christina's World for the cover. I know I still have the book and will have to find it, I can't find anything through google.
