Sock Puppets, Clone Threads and Other General Nuisance

wolf • Jan 13, 2009 2:15 pm
Cut it out. The Signal to Noise Ratio is suffering.

Obviously there is something in the air. My hippie, new age friends tell me that Mercury has gone retrograde. I can't think of anything else that would explain the assortment of meltdowns and foolishness.

Everybody to neutral corners. Take a breather and when you come back out, touch gloves, and fight like gentlebeings. Marquis of Queensbury rules and all that.

Flint started it.:haha:

Actually slang and LJ are bigger on sock puppets.

I actually like sock puppets. and a well constructed clone thread can be humorous from time to time.

I prefer sock monkeys.

Shawnee123 • Jan 13, 2009 2:59 pm
What's up with the monkey's wee wee? He seems...ashamed.
lumberjim • Jan 13, 2009 3:04 pm
love me for who i am or not at all.
DanaC • Jan 13, 2009 3:05 pm
I like sock puppets. I also like clone threads if they're funny and well-timed.

I don't like all the fighting. Ffs won't someone think of the Children!
jinx • Jan 13, 2009 3:07 pm
Something in the air indeed...
Cicero • Jan 13, 2009 3:12 pm
Thinking of the children died on 9/11 you insensitive assholes!

Yah I think batshit crazy must be in the air. My hippy friend said Mercury has gone Up Uranus. lol! ;)

Aliantha • Jan 13, 2009 4:18 pm
I'm with wolf on this one. Clone threads are ok in moderation, but making ten in one day is ott and really not that funny anymore imo. Of course, I have no sense of humour, so what would I know.
lumberjim • Jan 13, 2009 4:53 pm
YOU KNOW WHAT'S ALSO GOOD IN MODERATION?

MODERATION!
lookout123 • Jan 13, 2009 5:03 pm
where's that damn ban key, again?
DanaC • Jan 13, 2009 5:05 pm
Didn't this all happen last year when we did the mod elections? Is this gonna happen every year?
lookout123 • Jan 13, 2009 5:09 pm
Yeah, those powertrippin' nutters are in to us for another year of tyranny. now where is that sarcasm key?

MODERATION!

Like they say in the Army:
"The great prince issues commands,
Founds states, vests families with fiefs.
Inferior people should not be employed."
lumberjim • Jan 13, 2009 8:06 pm

footfootfoot • Jan 13, 2009 8:17 pm
If it wasn;t for general nuisance I wouldn't have no nuisance at all.

And we pronounce it New ee Zahnce.

my opinion matters about as much as wolf's or bruce's when it comes to that kind of thing

OK people, don't make me come in there. I'll start a thread if I have to and once I begin down that path there'll be no refuge. I'll put to shame all of your sock puppets and clone threads together. You'll drown in a sea of noboxes, a fate worse than death. :reaper:

BTW, hooray for moose and squirrel (moderators apparent).

Sundae • Jan 14, 2009 10:22 am
I don't like clone threads.
Because when they go off tangent and an interesting discussion starts up, I can never find them again.

Sock puppets are very funny - again in moderation.

The nastiness? Comes and goes. Some people you watch what you say around, because they bite. But even then it's okay, because at least you can switch them off in here.

I'm in my usual position of liking the Cellar pretty much as it is.
So don't go changing, to try to please me.

I'm a weirdo.

I love clones, clone threads, sock puppets, cock puppets, and general sillary.

I can see how they would irritate though.

I don't mind the clone threads, most of them are pretty funny. Now who has never had a sock puppet?

But even then it's okay, because at least you can switch them off in here.
One of the best features of this BB.

Not true. You've got a nice pair...

Oh, wait. This is about socks?
wolf • Jan 15, 2009 1:19 pm
I am poised on the verge of learning how to knit socks, despite the instructions being marked as "easy."
classicman • Jan 15, 2009 1:43 pm
They are easy - fitting them onto your feet is the difficult part
Cicero • Jan 15, 2009 1:50 pm
Just send them to me when they don't work out. I'll find a way to wear them as gloves. :)
kerosene • Jan 15, 2009 1:59 pm
I have not had any sock puppets.
Cicero • Jan 15, 2009 2:08 pm
Yah me either.....;)
SteveDallas • Jan 15, 2009 2:13 pm
Go for it wolf!

(I had one sock puppet, Chad, who made one post regarding elections in Florida.)

Oh Wolf! I'll help you there - just let me know if you get stuck. I'm currently knitting some kilt socks for a friend's daughter's future husband (for the wedding). Just call on me ...
Aliantha • Jan 15, 2009 4:36 pm
I have no sock puppets. I prefer not to confuse people around here any further. :)
Flint • Jan 15, 2009 4:45 pm
I have only ever had ONE account on this site. This one. Flint.

Back in the day, on Audiogalaxy, when I had more free time, I did make clones of other users, to mess with them. The usernames were underlined (for IE users), so you could put an invisible underscore to mess with people. AG was a madhouse, this was commonplace. I had a list of like 10 or 15 clone variations people had done on my username, which was NosotrosFlintamos. You could also put space characters after the username to register an identical-looking username. You had to look out for that extra space right after people's name. Don't know if you can do that here. I know that the chat room will let you use [alt+0160] as a username.
