Here she comes!

My excuse for blowing off all non-grifftopia activities.
Elspode • Jan 10, 2009 9:42 am
Nice! Time to fire up the Arctic Cat!

Should have moved South. :D
Griff • Jan 10, 2009 11:12 am
Oh no. I love this stuff.
monster • Jan 10, 2009 11:16 am
this storm is pretty maneagable so far. What we need is a slight temp change so it's less powdery, more packable. I'm cool with that happening after it's all down -the powder is easier to shovel. We've had about 7-8 inches since yesterday lunchtime....
TheMercenary • Jan 10, 2009 11:17 am
Uggg. Dude, it is real nice to look at for a day or so, but when people start driving in it, it warms just enough to make ice the following night, and all the snow near any street turns grey it is no longer fun. I think it is beautiful at first sight but after that you can have it. That's what they have ski resorts for and that's where I go when I want to see the white stuff.
Pico and ME • Jan 10, 2009 12:06 pm
It missed us..totally missed us...and they promised 5 inches. This winter is really sucking without some decent snow.
Griff • Jan 10, 2009 12:31 pm
Bummer.

We are getting decent snow fall at the moment.
Pico and ME • Jan 10, 2009 12:57 pm
Yeah...a totally righteous bummer...
Sheldonrs • Jan 10, 2009 2:09 pm
I love snow. I could look at pictures of OTHER people trying to get through it for hours. :-)
monster • Jan 10, 2009 8:30 pm
i was driving in it all day today and it was fun because there were no self-important businessy assholes causing accidents by thinking they were too important for the snow to bother their cellphoneyappingemailingburgereatinglattelapping driving styles. Well, not so many, anyway :)

we're upto about 12 inches by my reckoning. We've shovelled a few times. beats the elliptical....
lumberjim • Jan 10, 2009 8:35 pm
i was promised 3 to 6 inches

i got diddly.

a dusting.

In two or three days you will have tons of company on the road, then the fun begins.
:D

I know all about idiots driving in snow.

They're funny, really, from a safe place anyway.
bookbuyer • Jan 10, 2009 10:06 pm
Lived in New Jersey for most of my life, but moved to South Carolina last July. I gotta say I'm not missing the bitter cold and snow/ice/sleet/freezing rain.

TheMercenary • Jan 10, 2009 10:56 pm
Well done. SC is a nice state. Where did you move to?
bookbuyer • Jan 11, 2009 9:32 am
Upstate, smack dab in the middle of Greenville and Spartanburg. After an obnoxious amount of research, my wife and I decided on that area, and chose Greer thinking it was in the middle of the two large cities, thus doubling our chances for a job.

(Sorry Brian)
Here she comes; the girl who tried to vanish to the future or the past
Is no longer here with her sad blue eyes
Here she comes; she floated away and as she rose above reason
She rose above the clouds she was seven feet high
Here she comes; the night is like a glove and she`s floating like a dove
That catcshes the wind in the deep blue sky
Here she comes; the girl who tried to vanish to another time
Is no longer here with her sad blue eyes.

Here she comes, here she comes
Here she comes; the girl who tried to vanish to another place
Sees us following her all one at a time
Here she comes; and we`re checking out each others supplies
And looking at the eyes of all the others standing in the line
Here she comes; the night is like a glove and she`s floating like a dove
With her deep blue eyes in the deep blue sky
Here she comes; the girl who tried to vanish to the future or the past
Is no longer alone among the dragonflies
Here she comes, here she comes.

Who will remember her?

Aint' gonna happen.... the city did an amazing job of plowing overnight -even the minor dirt roads and one-entrance subdivisions are plowed! We couldn't believe it when we went out this morning. Of course we had to shovel the bank of ice the plow threw on the drive first....

Just got back from sledding :D

They had plenty of warning with this one, they were ready. The overtime will help with the Christmas bills.
Griff • Jan 11, 2009 6:23 pm
XC skiing today was pretty good. We still have that layer of ice underneath but good skiing none the less.

It's a new financial year.... suddenly they have loads of money in the budget! :D

(there was plenty of warning in December too...)

The only thing I dislike about winter is having to scrape my car in the mornings. And shovel my driveway. Otherwise, I am "cool" with it. Get it? COOL with it?
jinx • Jan 11, 2009 6:37 pm
I fucking hate it. Winter can bite me.

Our trace to 2" turned into 8-10 from this puppy :D

Too bad we didn't get it over break when I had the *time* to CC ski. I had prior engagements all weekend. :(
DanaC • Jan 12, 2009 4:48 am
I don't like any extremes of temperaure...too cold or too hot. But...I can cope with the cold, I can't cope with heat.

Yeah...the White Death, as predicted by the local news channel, did not come with much force.

They don't call it the White Death, my family does...because for pete's sake it's Ohio and it's going to snow. But they break in to tell us how horribly treacherous it's going to be. Rarely is. :D

I don't much care for winter...but if it's going to snow make it a blizzard so school is closed. ;)

When we bought our house, I was happiest about having a driveway. It meant that I could actually park next to where I lived. Guaranteed. I'd lived in apartments up until then, and it always meant parking 2-3 blocks away. To actually have a spot that was like 10 feet from my front door left me with a smile for a good week or two.
