Moderator nomination thread

Undertoad • Jan 1, 2009 7:50 pm
This is part one of the moderators election. (Part two is the actual vote.)

The term of office for this election is through 1/1/2010, and the number of moderators shall remain unchanged at two.

Nominate people to be voted on in the moderators election. People nominated here will appear in the moderators vote, unless they specifically say they do not accept the nomination.

Joke nominations are discouraged, only because I can't tell whether you are joking or not.

The moderator election is not a popularity contest, and everybody hopes that losers, if there are any, do not feel discouraged about the Cellar. Moderator is a harder job than it appears, only because people think of you differently if you are a moderator.

Nominations will close at 11:59 pm Eastern time on Jan. 5. If this is longer than appears necessary, it's only to make sure everyone gets a chance to see the thread and participate.

Nominations are open.

I'm suggesting we keep Bruce and wolf as Moderators-for-Life, like African dictators. As long as they're cool with that.

(Seriously!)

I accept the nomination, and if elected will serve with my customary lack of dignity.
DanaC • Jan 2, 2009 5:12 am
Wolf and Bruce, if they want to keep going.

I know there's a number of dwellars who'd be good at this, but Wolf and Bruce have done a fabulous job the last couple of years. They've managed to strike a good balance, with their moderation rarely visible, but clearly effective.

In case either don't want to do it, I also nominate Monster and labrat.

Wolf and Bruce. If they don't want it then:

I'm up for it and accept, but Bruce and wolf are doing a great job. I see no reason to change if they are happy to continue.
Griff • Jan 2, 2009 8:58 am
I like everybody mentioned including the current administation. I'd suggest Limey as well to spread our hours a bit.
footfootfoot • Jan 2, 2009 9:02 am
Thanks for the vote, Merc. I haven't the time to do a good job of moderating, so I must decline.

Good point. I also nominate DanaC.

Yah what glatt said. :)

I'd be happy with all of these and the current moderators and there are probably a few more but so many people have posted since i started this reply some time last night i thought i'd better just post and be done with it...

Thanks guys :o but I'm turning down the nomination as I don't think I can take on another commitment at the moment.
I support all of the nominations here so far, however.
Griff • Jan 2, 2009 3:19 pm
ditto for me
fargon • Jan 2, 2009 3:57 pm
Wolf and Bruce are all right by me
Shawnee123 • Jan 2, 2009 4:01 pm
I agree with everyone.

wolf and bruce rock...the other suggestions are good, too.
classicman • Jan 2, 2009 5:18 pm
As long as Wolf and Bruce wish to continue, I see no need for change. They've done an excellent job.
DanaC • Jan 2, 2009 5:34 pm
So say we all!
classicman • Jan 2, 2009 5:41 pm
You're starting to scare me, DanaC.
Aliantha • Jan 2, 2009 5:44 pm
I don't really care who the moderators are. Bruce and Wolf are doing fine so I wouldn't bother changing them.

I guess if either declines (and of course Wolf has already accepted) I'll have to have a rethink, otherwise they'll probably get my vote.

Who me?
xoxoxoBruce • Jan 2, 2009 8:18 pm
I have to accept, this is the year Wolf and I planned to spring our secret plan.;)
NoBoxes • Jan 3, 2009 2:01 am
That's contingent upon Undertoad not having a secret copy cat plan to pull a Blagojevich and sell your moderators' seats ...
xoxoxoBruce • Jan 3, 2009 2:06 am
We have a contingency plan, Wolf would kick his ass. :lol2:
wolf • Jan 3, 2009 2:48 am
Actually, I have other people who do the ass kicking.

I just sign the papers, and off they go ...

We have moderators? Well, who ever they are, they must be doing great. My vote is for these silent work horses.
richlevy • Jan 3, 2009 9:51 pm
Thanks for the nomination, Monster. I think I would have to decline for now. For one thing, I do not allow myself to post to the Cellar from work. This means I would only be 'on duty' for a very short time each day.

I would offer my services as a backup if Wolf or Bruce were ever unavailable, however. I could certainly check up frequently on weekends.

I think Bruce and Wolf have done great and if they are willing to keep on doing it, then they should.
Elspode • Jan 3, 2009 10:49 pm
As Wolf and Bruce seem to be cool with maintaining their positions, which they have discharged with near transparent perfection these past nearly two years, I saw let's not fix what ain't broke.
piercehawkeye45 • Jan 4, 2009 1:39 am
Bruce and Wolf have been doing great.
capnhowdy • Jan 4, 2009 7:36 am
If it aint broke dont fix it. :)
Trilby • Jan 4, 2009 2:37 pm
am I too late to nominate wolf and bruce?
