What was your kids' favorite present?

Clodfobble • Dec 30, 2008 1:03 pm
The big hit this year with the toddler was the Clock-A-Doodle-Moo. He's got this thing with cuckoo clocks, and this one is perfect. He's played with it every single day since he got it.

His second-favorite present has been Here Come the 123s by They Might Be Giants.

Oh, and all the kids just loved the clothes their relatives bought them. No, just kidding. They hated them and were not even remotely convincing with their fake thank-yous. Hooray for gift receipts.

jinx buys really nice clothes for our nieces and nephews.....they are more for the parents than the kids, i suppose, but the reaction is the same.....

My nephew's favourite present was the tray of sweets my brother bought for him.
Quel surprise.
But it's nice to know that he (bro) is at least in good standing with the next generation this year.

Second favourite? The "lucky dip" stocking I bought for him. But I know perfectly well that was just exciting on the night. Like my bro's present it will be used up and gone.

But I bought a special pop-up version of The Tiger Who Came to Tea for one of my oldest friend's daughters. And she adored it, having got the normal hardback out of the library and knowing it inside out. Nothing like a new slant on a familiar book to warm a pre-schooler's heart. I doubt it was her favourite, but it warmed my heart to see the features of friends mixed into a vibrant, small but independent personality and know just for a few moments I had pleased her.

I got my kid Spore about a month ago. Damn thing keeps locking up my computer (Dell XPS 700/Windoze) - a so-called "gaming" computer with an NVidia whoopass card loaded with whoopass memory and dual quantum core dark energy processors.

Any ideas??

XP. It has something to do with the video card (I think) which is puzzling since I supposedly have a pretty good one and I even updated all my video drivers.

My kids seem to like their new Yu-Gi-Oh cards that Dazza got them. They've played practically every night since Christmas.

Of course, Mav loves his bike, and Aden loves his Surfski, but those presents both came before Christmas so it's not quite the same.

My son loves Bakugan. He got a truck load of the stuff...and he got some Webkinz and a couple of DS games. We got him a BB gun, though, and he seemed pretty obsessed with that.

My 3 year old niece loves her new Bite. That's a bike, to you and me.

My favorite present I got my kids was an upgrade for their drum kit.

I got a conversion kit to turn one of my 16" floor toms into a bass drum (with my spare DW 5000 series pedal), and a pair of real Zildjian (sheet bronze) 10" hi-hats. With their 10" steel snare, 12" power tom as a mini "floor" tom, and mounting hardware for two cymbals (various) and one additional percussion piece (various), this is a fully functional drum kit, minus a hi-hat pedal (the 10" hats are on a fixed mount). I do have a kid-sized hi-hat stand, but it's crap. This kit is all pro-quality equipment. I'll post pics.

It's running fine on my POS Vista machine.

Some apps don't like the dual core telling them where to execute commands?

Tyler loves his robotic dinosaur....its been terrorising the cats and has bitten me twice.

#2 would be the digital camera (v tech kids one).

Addison loves his guitar and mike...he has the moves down with the eyes shut singing and all, its very cute.

#2 is also the digi cam. I have loaded the software on my desktop and they are learning about editing etc.
