Dec 28, 2008: Whale Penis

Yup, there it is, big as life, a Whale Penis.



Looks like the boys are getting ready to chop up and render the blubber into lamp oil. Boy, are they in for a surprise.
All they are going to get is a pile of wood, aluminum and fiberglass.

This is a full size art installation on the beach in the Netherlands to promote the collection of the museum Muzee Scheveningen.

The whale was named after the milky-white waxy substance, spermaceti, found in its head and originally mistaken for sperm.

I used to use a lipsalve that had spermaceti in it. I feel guilty now.

The part with the teeth isn't the penis, it is the mouth. Wierd jaw though- it looks like the teeth bite into gum holes.

If the front part were the penis that would surely wrap up the whale species. Endangered would be an understatement.

I'd love to put that sculpture in my front lawn but my home owners association probably has some rule against beached sperm whales on the front lawn. They seem to have a rule for everything else.

If he were real you could say he died very happy with his Johnson hanging out!
