What is the Cellar for?

I used to think it was all about:

[*]wasting time at work

But now I've expanded that to include:

The Cellar is the place where I get my news first! (No kidding. I find out stuff here before it hits the news)

Regular application of the Cellar is known to retard the growth of 78% of tumours, both benign and malignant.

Let me think about this... cellars are good for storing potatoes, potatoes have lots of eyes, lots of eyes are good for looking at the world, the 'net, each other, and inward, so I think the cellar is a good place to store some great potatoes.

The Cellar is good for planning your downfall.

A place to put boxes of things you don't need right now but you know where the stuff is if you ever need it. Really it is filled with stuff you don't need and can do without, but you hang on to it anyway, keeping it all in the cellar.

Alternately, it is filled with pieces for things that you actually do need, but you need them so rarely that you forget what they are and what they go to. So you're tempted to throw them out, but the minute you finally do, you remember what important thing they're for.

I hate that. So I don't throw mystery stuff away. Drives my wife crazy. And of course my garage looks like hell because I don't have a real cellar at my house. If I did, it would look like my garage.

The Cellar is the Swiss Army Knife of Internet sites. It has many uses, and provides everything you need to do those things.

Also, it slices, dices and makes mounds of julienne fries.

I use it to remind myself that other viewpoints exist.

@ pie and classic...I should have said 'explore ideas with other people' which would be more inline with what you said and which I agree with too.

it's for when you need to poop in the corner and the family are watching TV in your living room.
