And if so, do you have an interest in someone putting together a Cellar video chat group?

I'd like to see people, but I don't know that anyone would want to see my big ole head glaring back at em.

I've got an old one somewhere, but I don't have a good way to mount it on my laptop. I ought to just get another one with a mount, but I'm too cheap.

Have one built into the notebook, never use it. Heard Stickam.com is a good video chat site where you can setup your own rooms, etc.

I don't have a webcam, and no plans to get one anytime soon, so I'd feel left out if there was one. That makes me want to vote no. But for those that have one, it would be a lot of fun, especially on drunk chat nights. So, yes then. But would it be a lot of work for UT? Then no.

Voted Yes because I have one built into my laptop.
But rarely chat because I'm in the wrong time zone.
And my parents don't have a wireless hub, so I won't be doing it from here.

So that's effectively a no.

Yea. That would be cool. If it were chat where vid was optional. I'm losing wireless at home for awhile until I can get a connection at the new place. Let's talk about it. :)

I'm not much of a chatter, and can't imagine I'd do it if there were web cams either. But don't let that stop you guys.

I'm posting just to point out that woot.com is having a special today on webcams. Two for $18 (shipping included.) If you are not familiar with Woot, they sell one item a day. So tomorrow, these guys won't be for sale any more. You could get the two, keep one, and send one to LabRat.

Hmmmm. You people who know about these things, is that a decent one? Seems like a good deal, but I've never looked seriously at buying one.

I have a webcam built into my notebook, but have no idea how to use it. I don't get into chat very often anymore but I like the idea.

I don't think there is such a thing as a decent webcam. They all take pretty crappy images/video compared to a real digital camera. The comments at woot say that the microphone for this one is crappy.

For what it's worth, Amazon offers the same webcam for $27 for one. So woot has a good price.

It might be kind of nice to web cam with my clothes ON for a change.

I succumbed and ordered one. It's got better image quality than my old one, it supports USB 2.0, and it has a clamp to fit on top of my laptop. (Hercules Deluxe Optical Glass, $20 + free shipping from Newegg. They're out of stock at the moment though.)
