 here comes a storm of Blazing saddles references, no doubt ...

"Where is the white women at?"
Ibby • Nov 6, 2008 3:57 am
let me just, whip this out...
Big Sarge • Nov 6, 2008 8:46 am
Wouldn't be the first time I picked cotton! You know, I bet the president elect has never picked any. Stereotype reversal? I just figured it out.....I'm more black than Obama.

BTW, he will be my commander in chief and I will treat him as such. Time to put the election behind us.
Radar • Nov 6, 2008 11:14 am
I picked cotton before too, and here's a tip. Wear thick gloves or you will regret it!
Big Sarge • Nov 6, 2008 11:33 am
Radar, you "cotton pickin".....

Have you ever heard that before? I remember when "cotton pickin" was used as an expletive

*applauds*

I think Yosemite Sam used to say "cotton pickin" when muttering about Bugs Bunny.

I know my mother used to use the phrase in the 70's. It wasn't until a decade or two later that I wondered if the saying had racist roots. I know Mom didn't/doesn't.
Cicero • Nov 6, 2008 12:24 pm
Heh. I'm putting W. behind me. Happily, oh so happily. That's the good news.

Bye!!!!

"Bye bye Bush" deserves it's own thread, with letters and photos, but I'm lazy.
Shawnee123 • Nov 6, 2008 12:32 pm
I have lost my president
I don't care, he was bent
Bye bye Bushie

He was not so good to me
gas was high, poverty
Bye bye Bushie

Oil money following behind him
Follow it and you would always find him
Start a war, create a fright
Your son won't come home tonight
Bushie, bye bye

--sung to Bye Bye Blackbird.

Go here.

I agree, but we may be talking about different things.
Cicero • Nov 6, 2008 12:44 pm
Yea. It just set in when I saw Obama make his speech. It was like, holy shit, Bush isn't going to be president anymore. I knew it intellectually, but when I felt it, it was like an epiphany. Grand it was, so grand....Fucking yeaaa!! Omg. I thought it would never be over, oh he's still there? Fuck.

I don't care about either of the candidates. The fact that, that over-glorified piece of shit isn't going to be effecting my life anymore, I care a lot about. It's like a break up. I was traumatized.

Bye bye bad maaaaan bye bye!!!

uuuh. He gave me the blues. I think I'm pulling out of a depression I was only slightly aware I had. What is that feeling? Wait...Is that hope? Holy shit! Is that what that feels like? Or is that a fraction of the doom feeling leaving my body?

Those were back in the early Bugs Bunny days.

I thought you said, "Time to put the erection behind us."

HLJ - I was drifting off subject talking about cotton picking with Radar
HungLikeJesus • Nov 6, 2008 2:53 pm
Sarge, I think you need to re-read my comment.
Big Sarge • Nov 6, 2008 3:41 pm

and "dagnabbit"

I use that one from time to time.

I wanted the theme song to Bugs Bunny sung at our wedding.
Overture, curtains, lights
This is it
The night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing our parts

etc.
They wouldn't let us do it, btw. :(
Back to cotton. Did you hear Redd Foxx's joke that his grandfather "died of a headache because he was too proud to pick the cotton from a bottle of aspirin". And I only see the greens picking cotton herabouts, they might be John Deere or McCormick, I dunno.
Shawnee123 • Nov 6, 2008 4:49 pm
WHO wouldn't let you do that, sweetwater? That is an absolutely stupendous idea.
sweetwater • Nov 6, 2008 10:19 pm
Those silly church people didn't think it was right or something. So as we were gripping hands up there we were both thinking it, and trying to not laugh - but alas, we did anyway. :)
Shawnee123 • Nov 7, 2008 8:24 am
Sounds great! You should have made it your reception entrance theme. I love it!
Urbane Guerrilla • Nov 8, 2008 11:04 pm
Shawnee's right... that would have worked for the reception.
xoxoxoBruce • Nov 8, 2008 11:15 pm
My new years eve party will have a theme this year.
