What a load of old rubbish.
"There's only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He's half African-American," Nader said.

How's that for accuracy? The man is half African by birth, wholly American by background and as for acting or speaking white... what? He was raised by a white family, he is as white as he is black. Why on earth shouldn't he sound like his mother rather than his father?

Anyway, if he wanted to emulate his father, he'd be in Africa now having abandoned his daughters, speaking Swahili. Not listening to rap and wearing baggy pants in da hood.

Ummm ok, whatever.

Nader needs to realize that if Obama didn't "act white", he would have no chance of winning the election. Look how the public took Reverend Wright.
TheMercenary • Nov 5, 2008 10:44 am
I don't think Obama "acts white". He acts like Obama. But what he does not do is buy into the idea that to be a known as a black man he needs to play into a sterotype of eubonics and playing a race card to get ahead. He may have done so in the past but at this point in time I am going to give him a chance to maintain a sense of honor and decorum on the office and the responsibility he is about to take.

Obama acts like himself and Reverend White does not "act black" he acts like a bigot!

I don't know if playing the race card would be considered acting black, but putting black interests ahead of white interests. If Obama focused more on black interests, there is no way in hell he would have gotten elected.

Obama made his campaign on helping the middle class not the lower class. There are many other reasons as well that point that his target audience are middle class whites.

Not that its bad thing...just that he knew the only way he could be elected was by doing such.

I am trying real hard not to read racism in your comments but I have to ask, do you think all black people are lower class?
xoxoxoBruce • Nov 5, 2008 11:55 am
The ones he comes in contact with are... inner city youth perspective.
piercehawkeye45 • Nov 5, 2008 11:58 am
No, its a generalization. Blacks have the second lowest average income out of all America's "racial" groups so just saying lower class is an easy way not to go into a 2 page report covering my ass.

After second thoughts, we are probably both talking about the around the same thing Merc but that I rarely believe that a politician acts like himself or herself so I naturally jump to an "so an so is putting on a front" conclusion. It will be impossible to tell.

Nirvana, where the fuck are you getting the idea you might?? Or that he might??

What? Just as McCain realized that he'd better not act "like a poor Southern cracker," or he would have no chance of winning the election? Look at how Bubba shot the jukebox. :eyebrow:

I might or who might what? I have no idea what you are talking about but if you are going to use unnecessary expletives I guess I should move on to more intelligent conversation.

I would agree but I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. I want to believe his intentions are honorable and his path will be true. He has some huge expectations to fill IMHO.

So he could grouse about whoever won, and say I didn't vote for him. It's a cop out.

why the fuck is it so goddamned wrong to pepper your fucking speech with unnecessary expla-fucking-tives? And how in the cock are you offended by it?

LJ stop sticking your fucking nose into other people's private internet conversations, you fucker, or I'll have to get my mate Chris Rock to come round and fuck you over.

LJ and SG all your expletives were totally fucking necessary! ;)

... not.
DanaC • Nov 11, 2008 6:06 pm
But...but...the unnecessary expletives are the best ones...

I mean...fuck me sideways, when are expletives ever necessary? Desirable, effective, appropriate (or gloriously inappropriate)...but necessary?
Nirvana • Nov 12, 2008 6:44 pm
Good point Dana, but it may be that facetiousness is necessary.

This is the remark Nirvana couldn't remember making. It is the remark to which I replied.

We now return you to the rest of this thread, which is really a lot more fun. Particularly the second page.
