So Cute.

I took this guys picture at the zoo because he looked so cute sitting there away from the others...AND he was wagging his feet up and down mindlessly. It was really adorable.

Image

Then he saw me. I was like 20 yards away and he still saw me.

A lot of the exhibits had feeding stations.

Kids loved feeding the parrots... (So did I. I love parrots)

There's lots of free alternatives around. IrfanView for some simple things, like inserting texts, arrows and the like.
Others for more complex picture editing.
Sundae • Oct 17, 2008 7:50 am
I have Irfanview - I never knew I could add text to pictures that way.
Thanks, I'll have to investigate!

ETA - I am surprised you found the quote if it wasn't familiar - apparently the official line is, "Neep, neep, neep"
Well done you :)
Scriveyn • Oct 17, 2008 8:04 am
In IrfanView: select a rectangle where you want the text to be, then press CTL+T and play around with the options in the dialog that pops up. - Not the most elaborate applic for texts, but good enough for LOLcats, I'd say.

sundae, I just use the photo software that came with the digital camera. It ain't photoshop by a long way, but it gets the job done ;)
Shawnee123 • Oct 17, 2008 2:32 pm
You can add text from simple Microsoft Paint.
Cicero • Oct 17, 2008 2:46 pm
For free. Not very user friendly compared to the other stuff. But free...http://www.gimp.org/ I use this all the time along with irfran view.

Not that I have put anything on this comp yet. I like it clean for the time being. It's roomy, feels good....:)

Four hungry swallow chicks wait open-mouthed for their parents to bring the next meal back to their nest - made in an old storm lantern. The mum and dad swallows set up home in the rusty old lamp last month and shortly after four chirping chicks were hatched. But the young family faced a race against time - because the chicks needed to be big and strong enough to join the rest of the Swallows which will fly south to warmer climes when the British autumn arrives. Thanks to a spell of fine weather - and an abundant supply of insects and grubs to eat - the chicks have flown the nest just in time to join their brood. Their unusual nest was caught on camera by Robert Fuller, a wildlife photographer and artist, who returned to his home in Thixendale, North Yorks, from his summer holiday to find the nesting birds.

Daily Telegraph

I took a couple of photos yesterday of two young Swallows perched on an overhead cable, hoping that the result might have been good enough for the Wildlife, living next door to nature thread.
Predictably, they didn't make the grade but the above picture turned up at just the right time.
