Split your lungs with blood and thunder, when you see the white whale!
Sundae • Oct 16, 2008 5:55 am
WOW!
It looks absolutely gorgeous, as do you both as usual.

Reminds me of Cuba, which makes sense I suppose!
LabRat • Oct 16, 2008 10:14 am
I'm assuming this is a grown-ups only vacation :) Looks fab.u.lous.
What's the scale on the slippery looking rocks in the last pic?

It's a good thing jinx finally packed. It looks like it payed off. :) Oooh noo. I'm not jealous. Nope. Jinx and Jim don't suck at all. I'm cold. :( And I just got colder!

Nah really. Looks fun! Have one for me!:D
Clodfobble • Oct 16, 2008 6:24 pm
Dammit! You people just got to go to OBX, and now you're in Cabo?

I really want a vacation. And I can't have one for at least another two years, and that's the truth.
lumberjim • Oct 16, 2008 6:33 pm
Yeah. well....we planned the obx one and skipped it last year. and then we won this trip from Wachovia.

if it's any consolation, the plane ride was down right painful. and the one going home will be even worse, i'm sure.
Pico and ME • Oct 16, 2008 6:40 pm
Those bars in pools are dangerous places...you get drunk really fast!

You also see some nsfw wtf stuff too.
Cicero • Oct 16, 2008 7:09 pm

LabRat • Oct 17, 2008 10:27 am
You won this trip? Details please. Lucky bastard.

The only thing better than a tropical vacation, is a free tropical vacation.

Cabo kicks ass. I stayed in the best hotel in Cabo when I was there 2 years ago. The Hilton Los Cabos. Man, that place is nicer than any hotel I've ever stayed in. It's better than the Ritz Carlton.

If you do go to the Cabo Wabo, and you are with the fellas. Go across the street and upstairs on the left side. There's a club called "amnesia". You will probably like it a lot. Everyone is walking around in shorts, sandals, etc. When you go to the club, wear slacks, a dress shirt, and dress shoes. They will treat you like a king.

Also make sure to stop by "The Office". It's an awesome restaurant right on the beach. We had steak, lobster, and prawns.
jinx • Oct 18, 2008 1:43 am
We stayed at The Westin, about half way between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Los Cabos.

They had a nice welcome dinner buffet for us, with grilled lobsters, lobster fajitas, fish fillets, chicken enchiladas, and tons of traditional mex sides. The next day we went on the atv tour, then to the CaboWabo for an open bar, buffet dinner and 2 hour private concert with Sammy Hagar. Following day was lounging at the pools and beach volleyball tourney with free beers, then in to Cabo for sightseeing, then back to dinner at a fancy restaurant in the hotel. I had foie gras and lobster helper.

I :heartpump Wachovia. Mexico is prettty awesome too.

And this was all paid for by a bank that just went under, right?

I seeeeeee......

that's actually an interesting point. The bank that 'went under' went under because of it's real estate division and the Golden West acquisition. The Auto division is 2-3 times more profitable than Wells Fargo is in their auto division.

WHY?.... you might ask......see above.

The amount of deals that they get in house when they run these contests must pay for this trip and more. There was a lady there that was employed solely for this purpose.....event facilitator. what a gig.

Wow, so you guys are the reason Wachovia's profits are in the toilet. I hope the hotel got the money in advance.

Probably from two posts down. I just went to the trouble of adding a link. BTW, don't be surprised if profits from the auto division fall since auto sales have been falling. Still, Wells probably made a good long term investment.

I laughed out loud when Hotel California started (I got it from colitas!)

Looks like great fun. I'd have preferred to be a passenger though, although it's obviously not an option on these particular vehicles. We went snow-mobiling in a similar group set-up years ago and I stayed as a passenger then. I loved it - I got to appreciate the scenery while still getting the thrill. And I stayed warmer (cleaner in this case maybe?).

No, 1 lady started off as a passenger with her husband, and the people that couldn't figure out how to shift and overheated 4 of the atv's got to be passengers for a little while at least.... Our 2.5 hour tour ended up taking 3.5 hours for some people because of this.... (the 5 of us that made it back ahead of them got to have drinks by the dirty pool while we waited - see pic above)

The chick that flipped hers was not hurt and did manage to stay on safely for the rest of the ride.

Great video Jim. I'm incredibly jealous right now. We only made it to Mexico a couple times this year and never any further south than Ensenada. Cabo is totally calling my name now.

Great photos guys! Great Vids.
lumberjim • Oct 20, 2008 5:27 pm
I'm glad you enjoyed the videos....I spent a lot of time filming and took a fair amount of personal risk riding that ATV one handed in order to get that video footage. And I did it for YOU, dwellars.
Sundae • Oct 20, 2008 6:12 pm
But.... but.... you know how much we enjoyed it when you fell over in the woods. Couldn't you have done an Ozzy Osbourne for us? Just a little one?
lumberjim • Oct 20, 2008 9:17 pm
there was a close bit, actually, but I was able to keep the rubber side down. It didn't translate well on film though.....

I came through a thick dust cloud on a down hill, and found myself atop a very rutted and bumpy patch where some erosion had occurred.

My trip was also company paid. It was one of the best times I've ever had. My wife was very jealous. I really need to bring here down there. A friend of mine tells me to go in November because that's Tuna season and you can go out on a boat and come back drunk, sunburned, and hopefully with some tuna. I heard you get all the sushi you can eat while you're out on the boat too. ;)

Turtles had laid eggs on the beach by our hotel, and the hatched while I was there. They had the area roped off so nobody would accidentally walk on the eggs.
