September 26, 2008: Ducken or Chuck

xoxoxoBruce • Sep 26, 2008 1:24 am
A farmer bought some ducks and added them to his own, brace of ducks, flock of ducks, flush of ducks, paddling of ducks, raft of ducks, team of ducks, as you wish.
Anyway, after a couple of weeks he noticed one duck wasn't joining in the ducky games, and never went near the water. Closer inspection revealed this duck had chicken feet.

I suspect, the webs just didn't grow for some reason.

So, is this a ducken or a chuck?

Mutant!
Antimatter • Sep 26, 2008 4:42 am
I wonder whether it should be cooked as duck or chicken.

Well it certainly isn't a dolphin.

If only it was turkey X duck we could call him a turk or a duckey.
HungLikeJesus • Sep 26, 2008 10:09 am
He doesn't fly or go in the water. He's a ground chuck.
BrianR • Sep 26, 2008 10:10 am
It's a South American duck that is known to swim in piranha-infested waters.

Along the Fremont Canal in Seattle, there's a flavor of waterfowl that does not have webbed feet -- floats on the water, but no webs. The SPU math & computer science building is right along the canal and I used to feed them sometimes before going in to class.

I used to know the name of these things, but can't seem to dredge it up.

BigV?

Are you thinking of coots? They have lobed, not webbed, feet.
dar512 • Sep 26, 2008 11:02 am
Very possibly. IIRC, they were black with a touch of red on the neck or wings.
Shawnee123 • Sep 26, 2008 11:37 am
With that bigass beak, I think something mated with a platypus.
Treasenuak • Sep 26, 2008 11:43 am
it looks like a juvenile mallard duck... except for those feet. Did his mother have a fling with a rooster? Either way, I bet he's delicious in a nice orange sauce...
monster • Sep 26, 2008 12:24 pm
You call him what you like, I'm calling him lunch.
xoxoxoBruce • Sep 26, 2008 12:56 pm
Lunch? Don't you know you can't eat a special duck all at once? :headshake
monster • Sep 26, 2008 1:16 pm
He's not special, he just has different challenges...

DUCK SEASON, FIRE!
boogerjames • Sep 26, 2008 4:27 pm
Is this what my recipes calling for ground chuck are talking about?
GAH! I've been doing it wrong this WHOLE time?!
xoxoxoBruce • Sep 26, 2008 5:44 pm
'Fraid so Booger... your awesomeness is slipping.

Btw, welcome to the Cellar. :D
Treasenuak • Sep 26, 2008 7:11 pm
-sighs- Don't feel too bad, booger. I'm in the same boat. Grr. And if I remember right, Imperial Duck is served one half at a time ;)
richlevy • Sep 26, 2008 8:43 pm
So, with a little more genetic drift you could have a turducken for dinner without having to buy three birds.
Nirvana • Sep 26, 2008 9:52 pm
No worries...I found the duck's feet! ;)

Just an FYI, chicken and ducks cannot mate to produce offspring like lions and tigers.

:welcome:

Hi Booger! Nice pun!

Nirvana ... Very nice follow up.

We have to get these two together! (I mean the ducken and the chuck. Not Booger and Nirvana. Although that's not to say we shouldn't.)

FYI ducks and humans cannot reproduce offspring bred to each other, or can they !? ;)
xoxoxoBruce • Sep 27, 2008 1:48 am
No they can't, that's just Michael Phelps. ;)

There's no such thing as a freak lunch.

Or perhaps a hawk? Duck of prey.

Oh my god! Let me consult my intarwebtionary... rotflmao. Yep. That's it.

You fell for it, LR, but to be honest, so did I. Now that is comedy gold.
