Do they just wait for me?!

I posted a few months ago about a rude comment some lady made to me while smoking near my office.

Well, it happened again and again it brought out the worst (or best depending on your POV) in me.

2 "ladies" passed by me while I was smoking and one of them said out LOUD to the other that "smoking is so disgusting!". My brain and mouth went into autopilot again and I yelled back "So is spitting and pissing on someones' leg! Wanna see me go for the hat trick?!".

They just kept walking, but a little faster. :D

Seriously man...it's just so classless. I love that they think they're somehow above you, which gives them the right to talk about what a horrible person you are for smoking, which makes them completely below you, because they have no class whatsoever. Humans are so rude.

I love your response. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, so to speak.

That is hilarious, Sheldon.

I think it's partly because you're in Phoenix, and most people around there wouldn't know how to respond to those kinds of comments, so the biddies are used to getting away with it.

In Philadelphia, no one says anything, ever, to someone who's smoking--unless they're looking for a fight!

I can't remember if I've mentioned before about my friend in college who had a brain tumor (that was later successfully removed and he is living a happy and productive life now...)

He was smoking outside the library and some sorority chick said on her way past, "Those things will give you cancer, you know."

He of course said, "That's okay, I've already got it. The cigarettes just help me feel better about the fact that I'm going to die."

Yes, they were rude. And I fully support your right to poison yourself.

But I'm a non-smoker and I hate the smell of cigarette smoke. And I don't have a choice when I have to run the gauntlet of smokers outside many commercial buildings these days.

Again, not apologizing for their rudeness, but I do ask all smokers to be aware that their smoke spreads quite a bit.

I hate the smell of farts, but I don't call out the farters in public and embarrass them.

I understand. But there are two smoking areas for our building and i was standing in one of them. And I was the only one there.
I would never smoke by an entrance. It bugs me too. :)

Okayyyy.

Well you have to give her credit, then, for giving rudeness a whole new dimension.

I had already assumed that Sheldon was somewhere besides right in front of an entrance: that is rude too, and I think Shel has class and shows consideration.

Those chicks were just a couple of biddies! :D

True, I have class. It's just lower than you think. lol!!!

It's just beyond me how anybody can NOT realize that smoking is a bad habit that will make you sick.

Therefore, when I see somebody smoking, I assume they already know that, and keep my mouth shut.

Well, it's better to have smokers outside than in the buildings smoking up the whole place.

If you live in a populated environment, I think it's a bit unreasonable to expect (wish) smokers to just disappear off the face of the earth. I used to smoke myself, for about 20 years in fact and gave up about 5 years ago. I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke at all now. In fact it makes me feel sick, but I don't think I have the right to tell others where to go with their smoke. Also, I'm not running around telling everyone to stop driving cars because the exhaust fumes stink (although I think they do).

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a lit cigarette pressed into my eyeball.

My standard responce... "and that's only one of my filthy, disgusting habits, wanna see some more?"

I wish I could repartee like Sheldon, instead of, I shoulda said..., 5 minutes later. :o
