What about Phi Kappa Phi?

OK, so that Golden Key honor society is probably a bunch of hooey. In today's mail comes an invite to Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Is that one any better?

Apparently WSU doesn't have a charter for Phi Beta Kappa.

Damn, you get a few A's and suddenly everybody likes you. :3_eyes:

Here's the thing. Don't start from the premise of "which one of these is the best?" Start from "What do I want?" and then you can decide if any of these offer that to you (and be prepared for the answer to possibly be no.)

What degree are you getting? What are your employment prospects in that field? Do you plan on getting an internship? Do you have specific companies in mind that you will be sending your resume to? The answers to these will all affect whether this, or any, honor society will be of any use to you.

Identify what it is you want in the first place--not what they want you to have.

Networking is probably the only benefit I can see. It might help get me new clients. Other than that, it's just something to brag about.

But what kind of clients are you looking for? Are college kids your major demographic? Or are you hoping to network with older alumni who have kept up with their membership in this honor society?

Yeah, older alumni. Dunno if anyone actually keeps up with this sort of thing, or it's just a bragging point for grads. Maybe I'd just be better off with a chamber of commerce.
