New bike this year - bought via our government scheme that allows you to save all tax (income and VAT) so comes out half-price - I succumbed to the delights of the Specialized Tricross Comp Double.

Have never spent this much money on a bike before - not sure I would have, either, had it been the full price, but the ride, comfort and handling are all superb and it was great taking it the distance to Paris - no regrets at all!

I was originally intending to buy a lightweight hybrid style of bike, but as soon as I sat on this one in the shop I knew where my money was going to be spent! What I also like about this one (cherry on the already substantial icing, so to speak) is that it has all the pre-drilled lugs to take both back and front panniers when using for touring, plus an extra set of brake levers on the flat of the handlebar which makes for more user-friendly braking (a bit like the old suicide levers, but these work!)

PS - busy resizing pics to post on website - will attempt to make up a couple of pages (will try to do more) by the weekend - as usual text will follow after the pics are in place.

xoxoxoBruce • Aug 3, 2008 7:31 am
Cyclefrance is a Brit, taking bicycle trips to france, simply to smuggle wine back through the Chunnel.
skysidhe • Aug 3, 2008 9:40 am
ah see, ;)

sorry cyclefrance. I really am an airhead and I didn't pay attention to your place of origin. You are now then my favorite Brit! .

edit- In real life I would never use the word brit. I would say this is so and so and he/she is from Surry and he one of my very favorite people. Just a passing thought.

Awwww! No fair, Sky's playing favourites!
DanaC • Aug 3, 2008 10:07 am
Sky, you do realise we refer to ourselves as Brits, right?
skysidhe • Aug 3, 2008 10:27 am
No I didn't know that and cyclefrance is my favorite only because I can't get the 'france' thing out of my head.

I would love to see France or Italy. He's a frenchman by defaut. :P
Cyclefrance • Aug 9, 2008 8:42 am
Sorry for the delay - this wine smuggling is getting to be more difficult than it used to be...!!

Anyway - the site-build is now progressing - slowly progressing, but definitely progressing - in case you want to follow.....

I don't think the counter actually works. I was visitor number 9 this morning.
Cyclefrance • Aug 9, 2008 3:13 pm
That's freebie Yahoo websites for you - the counters are a bit erratic - but at least they are simple to use (thank god!), otherwise WOULD be in trouble!
xoxoxoBruce • Aug 10, 2008 12:31 am

xoxoxoBruce • Aug 31, 2008 3:49 pm
The visitors clock is at 61. The last picture looks like some sort of bicycle rent/share deal?
xoxoxoBruce • Sep 14, 2008 7:08 pm
Bump. Cyclefrance has finished filling in the blanks on this years trip.
Check it out here, if you haven't seen the completed site.
