Local asshat, Mike "Asshaticus" Meehan decided to fund the billboard you see above. I wonder what his response is to the fact that this country was being run by a Republican when the attacks happened, and they still haven't even caught the guy that did it.

we've already covered this one. what VERY little credibility this guy had flew right out the window with the discovery of his white supremacy beliefs.
Rexmons • Jul 21, 2008 12:12 pm
sorry i should have looked more closely, and I didnt even know he was a Klansman.
lookout123 • Jul 21, 2008 1:03 pm
no big deal, this is the cellar. it's inevitable that we recycle. someone else found his link to some white supremist BS. Too lazy to search for it right now though.

you wacko extremist rush limbaugh follower! it took you more than seven minutes to post that because you were too busy being anti-american and ogling the new GM line to learn what was previously posted by another poster in 3,238 other posts.

Oh stop it you emotional, immature know nothing. Don't you realize that "85% of all problems directly traceable to top management? They don't teach that in business school."

What? Clinton was never arrested for fucking things up so bad that 8 months after Bush took office we were attacked? Or did all that shit just happen in 8 months? YFI.

Al-Qaeda attacked the WTC because Clinton was bad at fucking?

Wait. What?
Shawnee123 • Jul 30, 2008 12:52 pm
Actually, he's quite good at it. A real presidential romp, imo. I'm still reeling...

Also, never smile at a crocodile.

Not very effective, IMO. You know, when you're trying to get someone to do something, psychologically it is better to speak in positive terms than negative. If you want a child to stop running by the pool, you don't yell "stop running!" You yell, "walk!" Just my thoughts on the matter. This is reverse psychology. Sort of like saying, DON'T click here/push the button/open the door/etc. Perhaps subconsciously he wants us to vote democrat? ;)

Not sure how it would work with the example given, as 'stop' is a positive command, but the mind is slightly confused by the term 'don't'. If you tell someone "don't run", the mind hears two things: "don't run" and "run". Even though we use 'don't' to negate the command, the brain still hears the command 'run'.

There's a technical term for it, but I am damned if I can remember it. My brother studied as an NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) Counsellor. I wish I could remember in more detail how he described the brain's reading of such negations.

Dana, yeah, that's what I meant. I should have written "don't run."

This is the sort of thing a copywriter is supposed to know. I am still learning, but at least I've got the right idea.

Don't vote for a Democrat. Vote for Paris Hilton!
Urbane Guerrilla • Aug 6, 2008 7:59 pm
The two choices seem to be of comparable intelligence, yes.

No Democratic candidate seems worthy of my vote this time, either.
Aliantha • Aug 6, 2008 8:07 pm
Is it true that she's decided to run for president? There was a clip of her on the news last night in her togs by the pool telling people to vote for her.
Urbane Guerrilla • Aug 7, 2008 6:26 am
That's actually a cheerful little satire on the current string of campaign ads from each candidate -- that is put up by I forget which genuine candidate. Fun, but I'll have to wait for it to come around in the news cycle again to refresh on which is doing it to the other. They seem rather to be replacing stump speeches with dueling ads this go-round.
TheMercenary • Aug 8, 2008 8:18 am
Yea, the internet is obviously the new media for anything goes campaign adds.

She did that in response to McCain running ads accusing Obama of being a celebrity like herself and Spears.
lookout123 • Aug 8, 2008 12:39 pm
is it wrong that paris hilton is insulted by being compared to obama?
Griff • Aug 8, 2008 12:46 pm
Why would anyone feel insulted at being compared to a politician? [/snicker]

I have an actor acquaintance named Mark -- family man, conservative, a handful of kids largely home schooled -- who is a bit miffed to have his physical resemblance to Al Gore pointed out. But he might be persuaded to play Al Gore on stage if a sufficiently satirical part could be written.
