In the "Bigger Europe" IOtD the other day, I mentioned that Europe was worrying about overcrowding, in the early '30s. Now I see what they were worrying about.

On the up side, I guess it's easy to get rid of trash and garbage.

Or kids, or pets, or spouses, or roofers.

I've been to Bonifacio several times, the location is amazing ...

I've also been to Bonifacio. It is a beautiful midievil town, the edge of which is perched so precariously on the edge of those cliffs. I arrived there by boat, and it's very dramatic when seen from below...!

Manu, what takes you to Corsica? I have French family with property there and many Corsican friends. I have been going since the 70's. Yourself?

Oh. My. God. In the pic from Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain, just above the middle of the pic, on the side of the cliff...Is that a TV antenna? Or a child catcher? Or a gangplank?
glatt • Jul 7, 2008 5:22 pm
At least these houses are built on solid rock, even if it is above a cliff. What about all the hillside houses in California right in the heart of landslide/earthquake country?

Solid rock? Look at that first Bonifacio picture.
glatt • Jul 7, 2008 5:30 pm
Sure, the part that wasn't solid fell down. But what's left is solid.

I think people who lived in the second row wanted to live in the first row. Now they do.
